So I'm pretty new to the game, and just invested in my first 'Mech, a Jager JM6-A, and noticed something from the get-go. The Heat Efficiency is appalling.
I've been looking through all the hardpoints to see where I could add heat sinks but there's no free slots without removing the little ammo already there. Any advice?

Start with upgrading to endo steel and double heatsinks. That gives you 3 tons and better heat management and you can add 3 heatsinks.
You might get rid of the 2 AC/2 cause they are only have 1 to of ammo ...(!) together. That means max of 150 damage for 13 tons alltogether. Put in 2 med laser, heat sinks and maybe bigger launchers plus 1-2 to of missiles.
Use the lasers for close threads and the missiles for long range. Then your heat effiency mustn't been that really high.

Option One, scary infighter.
Option Two, balanced spread with long range focus but close in defenses, as a Jager should be.

My favourite JM6-A build.
It's effective at long range with dual UAC/5's (also, they look *badass*), adds a pair of mediums and a quartet of SSRM2's at close range to really lay out the hurt.
Yeah, no tag. Honestly, I've found ECM is far less common these days, and even when it is around it's just not that big a deal.
If you found ECM to REALLY be a problem, you could swap out a Medium Laser for TAG, but it's my opinion that torso mounted TAG lasers are generally worthless vs. Raven 3L's (the only case where ECM is going to be a problem, because you don't want to be going toe to toe with most D-DC's anyways) because you can't track the speedy little ****** well due to the slow torso twist speed of the Jagermech.

With any mech, you'll want to swap the heat sinks out as soon as possible. Larger engines also carry their own heat sinks which will help immensely.
