Well, I seem to be auto chain firing any weapons assigned to group 1. I've searched through the options and can't figure out how to change it back to the way it was. Is this a new game design? Or did I end up pressing some keybind to make it happen?

Default for chain fire is Backspace. You can't rebind it from Options menu, the option does not exist.
I once managed to rebind Backspace to some different command, but then I could not turn off the chain fire. I had to load defaults and rebind all my keys.
