As long as there's no actual reward or cost to PvE so it can't be exploited, and PGI has the manpower... well... why not?

I think (and this has been suggested before) that the best ways to implement PvE are in a training/test environment, and incorporated into a DotA style game mode where each team has a/several bases which produce NPC infantry and tanks, and even maybe NPC 'mechs, who then move across the map to attack the enemy team's NPCs and base(s). The players support and defend/attack these NPC troops and the object is to destroy the enemy base(s). I realize this is still PvP, but this is a PvP game and it would introduce some PvE elements. I really am not all that enthused about any sort of pure PvE missions or game modes (as I said, this is a PvP game).
edit: I didn't read the entire thread, sry if I'm retreading old ground.

Logically PvE should reward you but not as much as PvP. This is how League of Legends does it. Yes beating bots is easier, but you get paid a lot less for your time. It's a tradeoff. You should always get paid for your time but if its in an easier mode(easy bot stomp), then you should be paid less for it.

If they really have considered it, which I seriously doubt, it would be sooo many years down the road that you could have made your own single player mech game by then.
I really think that their sound bites on the subject were just to mollify the people that didn't want an online only mechwarrior title.

Once Clan tech is released... there is NO point to playing IS again. Clan tech is better on all fronts. So without any PvE how do you get Clan tech. Does it is just drop out of the sky and become salavage. Do the Clanners start selling it on the open market through the Mech Bay. PvP offers no story. I asked this before who gets to play Clan when the invasion happens? Cause if you can just start buying Clan tech one day, that tells me people just want a simulator not anything else, so Piranha could stop writting any back story and just focus on fixing bugs.
