Just speculation here, but what variants of the flea do you think we will git and exactly how viable in battle would this thing be? I know that it will more than likely be pretty useless but one must remember that there were alot of "Poor" mech designs made at least as far as combat went anyway. And personally I'd like to see a few of them in game just to add flavor. Just like we have poor quality cars and such in real life

Uh you think the flea is crappy? The base variant of the Flea has 5 energy hardpoints and can go upto 201kph with MASC.

Early Closed Beta testers will remember the 300kph Trollmando...

Psst, the Flea will likely break the 160kph mark. It'll be the non-flying version of the troll Spider.

When talking about useless Mechs, we should talk about the UrbanMech.

Which should be added as a 'Lunatic' difficulty setting for MWO. :P

I like more mechs than fewer.

But with the current meta of high alpha, these things are going to be getting 1 shot all over the place.

I am thinking the 4,15, & 17 for the variants

In TT mechs that would be considered bad in MWO could be good because of Battle value or C-bills.

The flea will be slower than the Jenner if they keep the current engine restrictions. 137.7 base compared to 138.86

I want an Urbie for the Lulz. The flea could make a good harraser so I wouldn't consider it junk. Urbies yeah.... They're so awful you can't help but love them.

Yes it may have 5 energy hard points but it also has no JJs and it weighs 20 tons. And isen't there a speed restriction right now? Also if I recall correctly alot of the "Junk" mechs were pretty cheap, which would help with the price gaps I think >.>

o.O GOOGLE is spying on me!

And there are plenty of mechs. And weren't some of them House or Merc company specific? I think the Atlas II was house specific. Would be cool if the Davions or other Houses had Mechs that nobody else could get.

Having a mech that was too fast for the game to handle was a bad thing. That was why the Commando was so powerful. Unless they up the possible engine speeds the Flea will be capped similarly to all other light mechs, just with less armor.

Spider IS useful in somethings. It's just not recognized in the game score.

It's an excellent scout, and capper. You're never going to get a high damage number in it, but as a team unit, it can provide some interesting usefulness.

Yesterday, River City. I'm in a Spider, only light on my team. I go out and encounter 2 ECM Ravens. I shoot at them a bit to get their attention (with my TAG and One Medium Laser) Then I run away from them back towards my group.

They take the bait and run into a whole lot of pain.

Now the opposing team is out of lights. I'm damaged, but I still have full mobility. I run along the side and get to their base to cap.

I'm the only one on their base, so it's not a fast process, but my intention isn't to actually cap, it's to break up their front line.

This works, a couple of their mechs, a Centurion and a Stalker (of all things) come back after me. Depriving their front line of firepower. I run away, though the Cent does some more damage to me. In the mean time, their front line is crushed. because we have regional superiority. We win the game. My final score?

Damage 9, Game score 10.

So while it may not have done much damage, and it didn't cap the base and win the game, it was VERY, VERY useful overall It changed the way the enemy force fought us.

I fought as a scout, I tagged some enemies and got us some intelligence. I didn't get big points, I didn't provide the firepower, but I had fun,

Most players using Raven 3Ls don't actually cout, they just SSRM murder other players, they may Cap, but they rarely actually provide intelligence, they're playing for themselves.

The Spider is a VERY good scout. It's not a fighter, it's not a threat by any means, it's very rare to get a kill when using one.

It can change games however.

I'd just pilot one for the fun of it and paint it in the most horrid colour scheme I could come up with to distract the enemy

I'm ready for the Flea. I'm going to drop the biggest engine in it that I can and either as many Small Lasers or a Lrg/PPC. It'll be like the love child of a Spider and the Cicada. Nom nom nom!!!

Until there is a weight/battle/anything value used to make equal teams, every mech that is not at the top of its weight bracket will be useless, except in some very niche situations.

Pretty much this. Even with tonnage limitations there will be ways to optimize your team to the point where Dragons, Fleas, and Awesomes never see the light of day.
