Honestly don't see what Fleas can bring to the table that other mechs cant.

Cataphracts, Dragons, and Catapults all do different things. Stalkers, Awesomes and Atlai all have different strengths.

Flea seems like its only upside will be size while it runs at the same speed as other lights, with lower armor and less weapons.

Would rather see something like the Panther.

Non-ECm, JJ, Heavy weapon mounting, semi fast, and 35 tons.

35 Ton single PPC pop tart lol (also true to TT a friend of mine had an army of panthers who jumped 4-5 hexes a turn, shot a ppc, and tried to land in cover all game)

As has already been predicted, the variants will be:

FLE-5 - 1 LL, 2 SML, 1 Flamer (64 armor)
FLE-15 - 2 MG, 2 ML, 2 SML, 1 Flamer (96 armor, and yet another Light Mech with useless ballistic slots)
FLE-17 - 2 MPL, 2 SML, 1 Flamer (96 armor)

The Flamer and MG on all of those stock are dead weight. And obviously, any of these are supreme challenge mode in stock configuration.

I sincerely hope Flamers and MG's will receive proper re-work before this Mech is released...

Useless things shouldn't be put in the game. That said, there's no telling how useful something will be without hardpoint and hitbox information to work with.

I would prefer that every make be made available.

Also, my personal theory is that when they release the Flea, it will actually be the Urbanmech.

I will reserve my judgement till after CW comes out, when scouting may have a much larger role. As a scout, NOT a light combat mech, the Spider is king. It can mount ECM, has a small/narrow profile, and best mobility (as fast as a commando and raven AND it can jump). Plant a spider in some trees with ECM and it can almost spot with impunity, especially after April 2nd when the new thermal vision comes out. A Raven's beak is a little too recgonizable and noticable.

So yeah, if -scouting- becomes a bigger factor in CW, I could see the Flea and the Spider become awesome mechs in their niche. Perhaps CW will give other mechs, like the Dragon, more of a role too.

The mighty Flea has its terror written into its name- enemies should Flee.

It is an excellent addition as an energy counterpoint to the Commando, a laser striker mech.
I'm only against redundancy, mechs which fill each other's roles.

I like wierd mechs which have a steeper learning curve than the popular, powerful ones which guarentee victory. I enjoy a challenge and developing unique play styles and use of different weapons.

Yes, just like how every CCG ever has those cards that no human being would ever want unless they wanted to complete a set.

Borrowed from someone, cant remember who but thank-you who ever you are :P"

His name is stjobe, its right in your post >_<.

As for the Flea, if they enable melee and knockdown when it comes out, I can see the masc being useful, at least...

Well one thing I have to say considering light mechs that just aren't good at doing damage: when I see two or more spiders/commandos in my team, I just can't help thinking we're pretty gimped and most probably going to lose, and I'm seldom wrong. I feel Jenners are way more versatile as scouts because they are fast, have JJ that are good enough for most maps and can pack a punch. Do we need even more small lights with light weaponry? I really don't think so.

lol tell that to a LRM boat... or an atlas/stalker driver. I see them getting cored all the time by fast litle ******** running circles around them

My point is, a R3L or a Jenner can do that faster and still be as good for scouting.

Early Closed Beta testers will remember the 300kph Trollmando...

Psst, the Flea will likely break the 160kph mark. It'll be the non-flying version of the troll Spider.

When talking about useless Mechs, we should talk about the UrbanMech.

Which should be added as a 'Lunatic' difficulty setting for MWO. ;)

We also remember how mechs going that fast made the game unplayable.

Let me just say that polls like this one disgust me.

It represents a topheavy way of thinking that is coming to dominate the game, and is the thing I hate most about MWO (Yes, far worse than the bad stuff people say PGI is pulling).

People like the OP are trying to make this game a race to the heaviest.

Well, guess what? You take out the battle, and all those heavy and assault mechs can't do all those other tasks that don't require brutish firepower, that Battlemechs need to be able to do as part of garrison and other duties.

Recon: Send a light or fast medium.
Capping: Send a light or a fast medium.
Interception of base runs: Can a light get back to base?
Capping Theta: Heavies to Epsilon, quicks to Theta anybody?
Skirmishing and harassment: The lights.

Now, here's the kicker. Because some people like their grunt machines, they try to make the game one big brawl. Don't cap in assault. How much damage did you do? Useless lights. Repair and Rearm is too expensive. They made missiles useless.

Sorry chump, but if any range of mechs should qualify for narrow roled and of limited utility, it should be assaults. If people stopped revolving the game around them, then just how limited they are for use would show very quickly.

um you can read their own quotes for yourself. THEY are saying what people say theyre saying. Its the beauty of a forum. A printed record.

It's really irrelevant. The reason I referred to it was simply because we have people threatening boycotts and asking for money back. Extreme action.

I feel the push to an assaults only game some want is far more threatening.
