Play Conquest. Assault is the kiddie version. You're a growed up, play the hardcore version.

If you're a slow Mech, Conquest is actually worse. In Assault you can just defend the 1 base or attack the 1 enemy base. You're too slow to content with 5 of them. Conquest is a playground for fast mechs. So, in other words, it's the "kiddie version" since faster Mechs are more rewarded in it than slower ones.(And faster Mechs tend to be a lot smaller)

You could just, you know, guard your own base.

These are the same people that sprint off in River City from the Sigma base without using their superior position to at least look for a second to see what the hell the enemy is doing first.

Logic and tactics no worky worky for them.

Nah, fast mechs don't have a big advantage. Stay together, take Theta and either Epsi/Kappa and stay at a central point, killing all who attempt to take them.

It's more tactical. I don't play lights and I win most my games in Conquest.

As a light pilot, I am familiar with the Iron Triangle defense in conquest. I can tell you that it does work fairly well on the four smaller maps, but on Tourmaline and Alpine my lance of roadrunners will take everything you're more than a grid square from and be gone before you know it.

As they should.

I would just like to point out

1 Cap win, no shots fired with premium time
Like 600xp

1 Win from fighting and getting a few assists
1-2k XP

1 win from fighting and getting several kills
I got almost 3k

Yeah, cap all you want. It's totally the most effective.

Maybe but then you just pin them in as narrow a place as possible. I killed 3 Ravens with a Jager earlier in a single game. Also the larger maps favor snipers.

Alpine is an issue, no question. LRMs help though as do ERLLs or PPCs. The only time you run into an issue is when you're in a pure brawler. Then your best odds are to set a trap for the little blighters.

Just saying that Conquest may give Lights some value but it doesn't give them all the cards. Stick together, crush everyone but the 2/3 lights, then break up into 2s or 3s and go cap 3 or 4 spots and camp on them. If you've got lights send them to chase and keep you little buggers busy while bigger guns show up.

See what I mean? More tactical. that's the whole point.

The funny thing is, I get more "oh dammit" kills in trying to avoid contact in Conquest than I ever do in Assault. It never fails that I need to tear up the last of a mech on guard duty, or have to deal with some speedy medium that wants to try to run me down. End up with crazy damage numbers as well in trying to return fire while racing around like headless poultry through every ditch and alley I can find to block enemy shots. My goal is to cap, and thus win the round, but I will drag you off behind a hill where your friends can't save you and take what's left of your already damaged ride out from under you. Then, by the time they get there and find your smoking chassis laying face down in the snow / sand / street / water, I'll be behind them, capping Epsilon :o

And this why MWO will soon end up in the scrap heap of failed games.
No fun.
Good job.

Just because you want to pretend you are playing TDM doesn't make it so.

If people want to win by capping, that's fine with me. A low XP win is usually better than a high XP loss.

Bzzzzt! Wrong; but thank you for playing! Have we got a copy of the home version for our contestant, Bob?

In Conquest there are no rewards for capping. None. The only way you get something is if you fight.

I haven't noticed it to occur any more than usual on previous double-XP weekends.
