  3. No, but TDM w/R may be implemented as long as there is a match filter. (4 votes [20.00%] - View)

Team Death Match (with re-spawns , or minimally Waves Mode has existed since MechWarrior 2, and is still played to this date on later titles. Is it worth PGI/IGP's time to pass this functionality, or to implement it.

Respawns: any game that gives the player 2 or more lives so he/she may re-spawn without hassle and jump back in; so a player does not have to start a new match for more action.

EDIT: This post is specific to TDM with Re-spawns If you do not want TDM w/R, please select 2. or 3. as is appropriate. Single Life TDM w/o/R has been discussed in other threads.

Ideally, PGI would implement a match filter so players could play their desired TDM Mode.

Perhaps change the vote?
I would play TDM, but not with respawns. UNLESS it was a set number of respawns and I was forced to change 'Mechs each time. (I.E Hot Drop)

hmmm I supose yoru waves model is good too.. I would vote for that, but please be clearer as I am sorry but not aplying a blanket "yes".

I think honestly there should be a map filter, and you can choose 1 life, unlimited, or some form of die-wait-respawn with group type deal. I'm emphasizing re-spawns because we already have 2 near-TDM modes without respawns. What's worse is many players are acting sore in the manner of "I don't like this, so no one should have the right to play that" approach, just like with 3rd person; everyone get's a choice.

If the devs simply put in a 1 life TDM in, they would get flamed by more people than who would actually ask for it, claiming "devs are lazy! give us something new!"

Poll is missing an option.
I was going to vote YES for TDM, but NO for respawns.
If the option is added, i'll vote, but with the current options, I abstain.

Team deathmatch is a must. Respawns I dunno. If there was a way for mechs to return to a base somewhere and get repaired and rearmed mid match, then yeah I can see respawns.

I wouldn't play it as I prefer no respawn TDM, but I'm sure there's demand for it.

A lot of players want something different, I'm sure this would be a quick fix that would require fewest resources to implement until something unique like drop-ship mode etc is implemented.

No, No, and No.

Doesn't fit with community Warfare and thus is a waste until long after that is put in place. If I wanted to respawn I would play modern warfare. Death match is a terrible game mode without objectives because run-hide-waste time is a real tactic.

A few things I am going to point out:

1) Assault in its current form IS essentially Team Death Match
2) Dropship mode is coming soon, which is Assault with 4 lives (you pick 4 mechs to bring with you to the fight and can only use those 4)
3) If PGI changed the name of Assault to Skirmish and made the cap points into retreat areas that only activate when a team has 2 or fewer mechs, then that is a perfect TDM. Fits the small skirmish idea that a TDM actually is, along with the small fights that happen in actual battles. A retreat zone makes sense for mercs who know when they have lost to bail instead of die. This would allow the return of repair/rearm costs. It also adds a new element to the game of choosing do you want to let them retreat and take less damage, or send some teammates to cut off their retreat for more salvage.

I really hope point 3 here gets a lot of attention. While I know dropship mode is unavoidable, I do not support repawns at all. I may quit if a mode is added with infinite respawns. Then this game would be too much like Call of Duty. If I wanted to play Call of Duty, I wouldn't play MWO.

How can it be team DEATH Match if there is no death. Respawns are for other games. No Respawns make MW:O better than those millions of other games.

Are there any legitimate reasons why you should have the choice to obstruct what other players wish to play?

It has nothing to do with Call of duty, it would be nothing new to the franchise, it would have nothing to do with community warfare and will never have to. And if you feel like it makes you want to quit just because COD has TDM, then you need to evaluate your emotional behavior. If your afraid of it becoming an arcade twitch shooter, just compare this game to Mechassault and even Hawken and realize this will never be the same game; the previous MechWarrior games weren't either.

"I'm angry, realll angy, there is a game mode I dislike, no one deserves to play this or I quite" ... is that what you desire to sound like?

Regardless, dropship mode would be fantastic, but it takes a lot more time and resources to implement, if dropship mode arrived in the next patch I'd be too busy playing to raise this issue.

Kell Commander made some good points and suggestions. That would be enjoyable, especially if each team had an actual base and hangar to repair or seak safety; which I'd play often. It's still not the same TDM.

Ideally, there'd be no need as they'd never implement Respawns.

The primary concern for game modes right now should be anything that supports community warfare. A respawn game mode (even though we are getting one anyway) does not accomplish this. They should be focusing on planetary conquest, and actual assault mode (a designated attacker and defender), and things of that nature.
