Suidakra, Awolnation, and 30 Seconds to Mars, especially Over Nine Waves, Wake Up, and Vox Populi, respectively.

Personally I get pumped up for war, by listening to pretty much anything by MAN'o'WAR.

This I agree with. Along with any other metal I can think of.
And Bagpipe music. Gotta have bagpipes.

I don't mean in game music, I mean other groups and bands who's music focuses your mind to do what you do best. Annihilate your enemies BattleMechs!

I've always associated some good 'Linkin Park' songs from back in the early MechWarrior 4 days due to this fantastic video. Can't find the tribute video on YouTube anymore though.

This is another music / tribute video I always loved, the music from 'Crimson Tide' by Hans Zimmer.

Also E.S. Posthumus - Pompeii

any Posthumus song will do it, they made amazing and energetic music. also most techno songs

Though it is disturbing (not any where as disturbing as the band Disturbed by the way) and makes you wish you never saw it-LOL, (not like a disturbed vidio, where you "really" -wish-never- saw it) Thank uncle danno

I would use this music for scouting, when avoiding contact, danger around, but ignorant of my presence. I might play it in battle if I had a 100 ton mech, of a lance of 100 ton mechs, with two lances of supporting mechs. Godlike taking weaker inferior lances, or positions.

Now folks, with all this talk of Seen and Unseen, Sole First Person Perspective vs Third, and how much we love that adorable trashcan with two legs and an autocannon taped to it I think we have lost sight of one of the more critical but key parts of the Mechwarrior experience.

The bloody soundtrack.

Come now, who can forget such classics as Pyre Light, Crystal Storm, Exodus, Arkham Bridge, and Mechwarrior 3's two continually looped but always terrifying chilling musical movements (And an honrable mention to its Expansion's more uplifting feel). When it comes to Mechwarrior, the music is as much a part as the atmosphere as the rythmic thump of your Mad Cat or the satisfying krrreeeeeeeeee of a missle lock. Atleast in its 2nd and 3rd versions (expansion packs included), Mechwarrior showcased some unique and rather epic sounding music. Though its later incarnations saw the music quality diminish significantly, the franchise now has a chance to redeem itself in the area of audio adrenaline.

The question I ask is, what sort of musical style would fit the atmosphere of Mechwarrior:Online?

Mechwarrior 2's music had an air of granduer and epic in the old sense of the word to it to reflect the bloody but honor fueled struggle between Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf, while Mechwarrior 2: Mercs added heavy metal to go with the more intense, highered gun setting of the game. Mechwarrior 3's was eerily tribal and intimidating to reflect the direness of your lance's situation and the primal bloodlust of the opposing Smokes.

So, with the houses at each others throats this time around with their myriad cultural backgrounds and based on what little info we have, what sort of MW-esque music do you see yourself getting DFA'd by a Jenner to? Arena metal inspired? Etheral wasteland? More geared toward whatever factions are facing off against each other? Go ahead and discuss, I got the tab on the HPG...for now. I may change my mind at any moment though.
