...and all of us agreed we would just move on to a better pay-to-play game before we ever shell out for cash just to play as a team in this game. Don't be stupid PGI. It is so blatantly obvious you are about to kill your game if you put the majority of what you have promised us behind a paywall.

Except that you clearly dont have all the information yet, so your discussion is flawed. I understand why you feel that way, but the truth is the article misquoted russ, and CW will NOT be p2play.

Link?

I am not trying to argue, I am truly curious. Been busy with family/Easter stuff today and have not had much time to look at the news/sites/posts and I would appreciate any additional links to help me see all the info that is out there.

It's funny how everyone complains about stuff in this game, and then they fix it a few weeks or a month or two later.
(depending on how serious/ragey everyone gets)
Just sayin'.

Maybe it's because Mechwarrior has passionate fans and PGI is a company terrible at PR. Just sayin'.

It's good to discuss it with friends but I think it's a little too early to make a decision. We have the holidays and on top of that the April Creative Director update is coming out next week. (One would hope.)

I understand the concerns but we're caught here without the whole picture. You end up looking foolish if you make a rash decision.

I think they should rework this. Kind of like TF2 has that whole trade system that opens up only after you make a purchase, I think it would be OK if you couldn't establish a corp unless you had bought an MC pack at some time. They could go places with that, instead of "get a membership to play with your buddies OR ELSE"

Sums it up really well. I grew up with mechwarrior being the very first PC game I ever played. Been hooked since then.

This is supposedly a direct quote from Russ himself:

"We really want people who participate in this to be as engaged as possible. And we'll probably require them to have a premium time account, as a kind of dedication level." That premium time account can be purchased in quantities ranging from daily to monthly to bi-annually, with the 30-day pack costing $10.

yeah I don't think people realise how responsive the devs are here. STO devs took years *literally* to do anything.

What "other information" do you possibly need? It isn't shrowded or anything deceiving; they straight up said merc corps may require premium time to play. Keeping in mind PGI's track record with "maybes," (3rd Person, Coolant Flush anyone?) I'd say that getting up and arms is justified to keep them from doing something really stupid because they have a REALLY bad track record with undoing mistakes they make to the game.

/facepalm.
The quote was misleading. Bryan has stated that CW will NOT be p2play. try actually reading the whole thread before posting, I added links to his twitter. THATS the information he was missing. And as always, not having all the info makes discussion flawed.

Just like they said the game will only ever be 1st person, and never have coolant flush as well?

Yeah, they do kinda suck at pr, but then again, theyre game devs, not pr guys. I dont think they do their own pr, I think thats IGP.

Theyre never said there wouldnt ever be 3rd person, and in fact stated they were looking into it both in july AND november.
And they said they wouldnt have Coolant flush as it was in MW4. So yes, just like that.

This quote? How exactly is that misleading?

"We really want people who participate in this to be as engaged as possible. And we'll probably require them to have a premium time account, as a kind of dedication level."

This is what he said, "Merc Corps, on the other hand, will be monetized. "We're looking at possibly charging a one-time setup fee," Ekman said. "This is just to make sure there's not a flood of one-player corps.

"We really want people who participate in this to be as engaged as possible. And we'll probably require them to have a premium time account, as a kind of dedication level." That premium time account can be purchased in quantities ranging from daily to monthly to bi-annually, with the 30-day pack costing $10.

When asked to define what the cutoff for "late summer" was, both Ekman and Bullock said "September 21" in unison. So it sounds like they're leaving themselves as much room as possible to hit 1.0."

Here is the link to it. I would really like someone from the dev's try to tell us how they could get this very long quote so wrong? I can understand a word or two but this?

As unusual as it is to see actually happening, what you're describing is the company responding to its customers.

Company: "Hey check out this new thing we did that we think is pretty neat. Do you guys like it?"

Customers: "ZOMGBORKEN! NERDRAGE!! TABLEFLIP!!!"

Company: "...Welp, good to know, then. We're pushing out a Hotfix to Plan B now, please update your clients. Better?"

Customers: "yah. kthx."
