My first and current 'Mech is an Atlas D-DC which I've gone through several builds of. Generally I stick to a brawler build with a little bit of long range capability. I'm of the mind that if I can't one-shot a Light with my alpha strike then I don't have a good armament.

My playstyle is mainly brawling and ambushing fools in close quarters. I like to get up in their face and go wild animal on them, just completely rip their guts out. I'm excited for the Battlemaster and Thunderbolt, they look like badass robots to me.

I currently have 12 million c-bills. So any recommendations on what I should buy?

if you like atlases you might want to consider an atlas RS or D so you can get all 3 and unlock elite efficiencies

the hunchback 4SP or centurion 9-A are also very good learning mechs

You might wanna try the Jagermech, especially the DD. 6 slots of ballistics can deal so insane dps.
Or you could get two more atlases and unlock the entire mech tree

If you're into brawling, the Orion and Victor are both fairly solid choices, and you should be reasonably comfortable with them as they share some characteristics with your own venerable mech (the Orion especially). Make sure you utilize their increased maneuverability though, or you may feel that you are simply piloting an underpowered Atlas.

If you like to live dangerously, some of the medium mechs make nice little brawlers. The zombie cent (the one currently on trial) is a surprisingly survivable little murder machine, and the 4SP (though not quite the shining star it used to be) is a nice striker also.

Just make sure that you consider all the extra costs when you purchase - DHS, ENDO and the like can sour a mech purchase if you don't have the cash to kit it out straight away.

You should stick to getting the next two Atlaseses and get them all Mastered. Once you unlock the elite stuff they really come into their own. You should always go in threes, get the 3 Atlas done, then pick the next Chassis you want to do and get 3 variants of those mastered, then move to the next and so on. I recommend you grind heavy, then medium, then light classes. For now though work on those Atlas.

wow i'm really surprised that you bought a atlas as your first and stuck with it. some players buy a atlas and think "this is impossible to pilot! what a waste of c-bills!"

generally atlases are the kings of the brawl and being a zombie where its arms can mostly be decoys to shield the torso and its powerful payload is loaded in the center.

i have 2 suggestions for you:

1. if you really enjoy piloting atlases more than other mechs than it can be recommended to buy another atlas variant if you want to master it and get all of its special perks that will make it superior in the field. to get the upgraded perks buy 3 different variants of the same chassis and get all basics done, then unlock all of elite with all three and master will be yours. don't worry you can always sell the other atlases you don't like after unlocking all efficiency's and you will keep master and elite on the one you keep and if you ever re-buy the others they will still have it.

2. i don't know to much about brawling mechs other than the atlas makes a good brawler as long as you keep XL engines off. since i don't know to much about brawlers (i'm more of a support person with my Orion) its best to consult the other suggestions if you really want a mech that's not a atlas. but i do know that the centurion is fast and can pack quite a punch and since its load is in its center torso and its arms are empty and mostly dummy's for shielding it can be a nice close range ambusher with good amazingly high survival rates and its arms are quite large to so its hard to miss the decoys, i have seem many people run good centurion builds and do really well in them and score really high damage per round.

You should get a Dire Wolf. But since they're not around yet...

The Centurion-9A or the Hunchback-SP would make good choices, if you want to try a lower weight class. They're both two of the best brawlers in the medium weight class, and you should expect to see a ton of them when CW arrives.

The Jagermech has a ton of brawling options as well, especially the Firebrand.

The Orion is basically an assault mech in its own right, and I'm sure that most people would say the Orions mostly better than the Awesome variants, which all suffer from low armour for an assault mech and a being about as big a target as an Atlas. I generally prefer medium and heavy mechs to assaults mechs, but if I had to pick a in-your-face in-the-thick-of-it brawler mech, I think I'd choose the Orion.

You could also take another Atlas. master the basic efficiencies for two more and you unlock the elite tier. Mastering all three basic efficiencies will double their usefulness, so say heat threshold increase from 10% to 20% I can't make a recommendation as to which ones to take, but the only real reason to take the K is for double-AMS, so you might be better off with the D and RS. The Boar's Head also just released yesterday, and I have to say, if I had to pilot an Atlas, that would be my preference. three energy hardpoints to each arm, a ballistic in the right torso, and missile in the left, and an XL400 engine (which could later be put on a Battlemaster for moving at 84 KPH with the speed tweak).

P.S. Get a Dire Wolf when they come out. Easily my favourite assault mech, I've loved piloting it in every MW game I've played, which may not sound like that much to you, but it does mean a lot once you realize that I generally hate being in anything slower than 70 KPH.

Almost any mech you get after your Atlas will have less firepower and less armor but more speed and smaller size.

I would suggest as a couple others have to get 3 Atlas total and Elite them all to unlock 2x Basic's on all of them. They will be much improved as well allowing you to get more C-Bills. :)

Your next mech should be the one your most interested in.

Cataphract or Jagermech for brawling.
They have good AC builds that deliver a strong punch.
The Cataphract has more tonnage than the Jager, but the Jager has some models with nice slot layouts.

Or get 2 more Atlases to Elite your Certs.
They are not as good as D-DC, just grind the Certs on them and sell them after to get other mechs.
