Just curious.

I'm *guessing* that you guys are now more or less happy with where missiles are, after the hotfix last week. So, that said, are you going to keep splash (as it currently is) in game come April 2nd, or still going to remove it as "planned" ?

They still need to tweak the "current version", but that's neither here nor there.

If my balance understanding is correct (with respect to the upcoming ECM change), I really doubt they will be able to address it by April 2.

given that they stated they first tried removing splash for the hotfix, and realized it had other issues, I would guess no. I think the idea to remove splash was just a first guess at the best solution. Its possible they may adjust again on the 2nd but i would not expect it at this point.

They tried removing splash entirely in the text fix (not released to the game) and it caused all missiles to home in on the center torso. To get around this, they left splash damage in but reduced the damage missiles did (LRMs do 0.7 to hit location plus 0.35 to surrounding locations within 1.3m; SRMs do 1.5 damage to hit location plus 0.75 to surrounding locations within 1.3m). Given what the "Road Map" indicated, splash will be completely removed (GREAT!) and missile damage will be upped to acceptable levels. My bet is that LRMs will go to 1.2ish and SRMs will go to just 2.0 per. As it stands, LRMs are a little light while SRMs feel spot on.

I don't know that you are going to get your answer, they are probably all at GDC.

I may have read it wrong, but my understanding of the problem was that it didn't cause the missiles to seek CTs, but underscored the fact they already were (heavy CT damage had been reported since the Arti change). Basically, without splash, they were getting a lot of CT damage and almost none anywhere else. So they kept splash and lowered damage so that it continued to spread damage across the mech without hitting CT stronger than intended, but the impact damage is still heavily focused on the CT. SRMs just got lumped in with the same temp fix because they were already doing it.

So now it's a matter of finding which works better for them. Either finding a way to have non-splash homing missiles both keep a reasonably tight spread and still spread damage across a mech, or keep splash and just balance the splash size and both impact and splash damage.

I'd rather see the former, but expect the latter.
