I had Stargate playing on my other monitor and it just happened to capture the look on that guys face for me which pretty much sums up the entire post I was going to make about zero damage matches.

This is essentially a name and shame thread. (<- tongue in cheek comment this is mods.)

Anyway, I cannot be vociferous enough on just how bad the current game modes are. Promote combat. That's what we're here for.

CW etc, put your "tactical" elements there by all means. Plenty of other games do the "tactical" capping stuff better - and I don't play them either.

if u don't want a zero damage assault because they cap, guard your base.

Better to create an additional game mode - team death match (you know, the one that does not require CTF/Base cap....

This is not a name and shame thread, this is a "I am mad because I created a zero damage match" thread. These happen often, when two teams both go for each other's bases, and then complain about not fighting during the match. Zero damage matches only happen to people how bring it on themselves, because it's physically impossible to have a zero damage match when someone defends their base. A shot has to be fired if but a single player from either team chooses to not cap rush. Zero damage matches only happen when you make them happen; they don't happen TO you, they happen DUE TO you.

The best way to prevent zero damage matches is to force a combat engagement, instead of rushing straight across the map without scouting for enemies. Base rushing causes zero damage matches, and it can only happen if all 16 players agree to do it.

In the closed beta, we had no bases to cap, had a zone marked, but couldn't do anything with it. We asked..hell we DEMANDED they give us some use for that base, so PGI did.

Now it's nothing but complaining about cappers and how that makes the game no fun and boring....

You guys make Lady Luck look like she's got a 5 year plan.

I havent done a single assault gamemode since they started showing the new stats, and this thread is a joke you have a choice, dislike zero damage matches dont follow the capping team and shoot something.

How often does this happen? What are you, piloting Assaults only?? Think how the balanced teams feel whaen coming across a herd of Atlai lumbering to nowhere, fully intent upon exploiting the fact they can take more cumulative damage than a balanced team and not caring about bases??
It's a valid strategy. Move on. :D

So then in your opinion base camping should be the most effective strategy in the game? Not moving? No.

It was the new desert map. You should also know that no matter how many time I were to type "stay and defend our base" into the chat window that I would be standing there alone or with AFKs literally 100% of the time.

Was watching twitch.tv the other day. And Captain Stiffy was playing with his Wang, true story.

Does that happen to you a lot? Max of 3-4 times for me out of about 1600 games. Caustic is the main one where it happened. I do think we need the base cap control. 15 min draws the alternative.

This is also definitely "GENERAL DISCUSSION". Mods here constantly abuse their power to further their opinions.

There are so many valid arguments I can make against this that have no rational defense whatsoever.

Maps that literally TAKE FIVE MINUTES FOR A LIGHT TO CROSS should NOT HAVE CAPTURE VICTORY SCENARIOS.

Mod power abuse failure, yet again.

Hey, I was in that game!

It was pretty stupid. For those not paying attention, I was on the winning team. We tromped right through the middle of tourmaline, and saw zero enemy mechs.

Well, one guy said he saw a treb, but no damage done (and no trebs on your team), so.

And frankly, for those blaming us, it is not our fault the entire enemy team decided they were going to flank around the outside of the biggest map in the game.

Sorry Stiffy, stuff happens. Where was your team at, anyways?

EDIT: Whoops, misremembered some stuff. It was a few games later that I was on the same team as Stiffy. Post fix'd.

I'm not blaming anyone for this other than the designer with his head up his butt that thinks deathmatch is for some reason an invalid victory condition and so much so that there must somehow be another.

I am going to start collecting these screenshots, and every time that I have a new one I am going to post a BRAND NEW THREAD IN GENERAL DISCUSSION and you WONT BE ABLE TO FIND THEM ALL INSTANTLY and the second that it hangs around for more than 10 minutes it's ganna blow up big time.

This has to be addressed and HIDING IT WONT CHANGE ANYTHING.

Imagine, for a moment, a team deathmatch on tourmaline. Ten minutes in, your team has killed all but one enemy mech. You have no lights. The remaining enemy is an ECM equipped spider that wishes to troll you by dragging the game out as long as possible.

I would happily take cap wins or losses over that.

I mean, there has to be some middle ground, like only being able to cap after a certain number of mechs are destroyed, but for now we have what we have.

EDIT: And yeah, what are you even doing, mods? This is pretty clearly MWO related, even if you don't agree with it.
