I'd love it if the Command Console gave the user the ability to use the Battle grid to target strikes.

YEP!! Was thinking exactly the same thing. It would give CConsole some tactical value on the field.

One step at a time.
Hell they could create the ability for one player to initiate a strike that goes on hold until another player uses a TAG. There are various possible approaches.
What about a beacon that last 5 min that we drop and if that beacon detects a mech. STRIKE ONE! Who knows but that is all part of it. We help the devs to figure it out.
