I recently reported a teamkiller that wiped out the entire team. The terms of the reporting system doesn't allow us to hear anything about what has been done, but one person posted recently that they had an "imposter" who somehow ''hacked" the system and replaced their name with his and proceeded to teamkill/greif while verbally abusing other players in text and chat. Now I'm thinking more along the lines of "cool story bro', tell it again", but I checked this guys posts and found similar greifing on the forums by this guy. But really I can't be sure.

So is "an imposter is doing this" an new excuse or is there really a name spoofing hack out there?

Maybe next time a Dev drops with your team... well I don't want to suggest a TK, but it might get their attention.

Not on your life, my shots go down range only. Except for a recent accident related to the "controls still active while typing message bug" and that time before friendlies had their own blue target reticule and a freindly Awesome was between me and an enemy Awesome and when a Freindly Jenner ran in front a Gauss shot from around a corner at 1000m, but other than that no shots hit my allies.

I've seen it a few times, actually.

Its usually names of some of the more well known players from the forums and around NGNG, interestingly enough.

So my assumption is it is someone who has enough contact with these people and ignorant rage to try and smear whatever name or reputation they've gained for themselves out of either jealousy, hate or "for the lulz".

Report these smurf players with the pseudonyms and hope the actual player isn't affected. This sort of thing happened quite a bit in MW4, where they were just drama queens trying to incite trouble.

It might draw an actual responce. I havnt seen or heard of an instance where tkers or imposters have been banned. Anybody out there seen the Devs boot offenders? Dev should post actual numbers to boost player confidence.

I did a little bit of research into name spoofers and from what I've seen while the spoofed name shows up in game, the connect/disconnect message usually shows the real name. I'm not sure if this applies to every game though.

Ive seen you are around alot, just cant remember if its just the forum or the game too.

I've also seen some are creating accounts with cap i-s for other players small L names.

I thought of that too, but my screenshot verifies that it was the same.

The GMs can tell the difference between similar names. Just type it exactly as it shows. They would also detect or discover any hacks being used to disguise it, and outright ban them for that too.

I wouldn't doubt it.

It's pretty sleazy. I would hope that the offender's IP gets banned/blocked. If it just the account, there would be nothing stopping them from doing it again with a different account.

It would be nice to see some type of action. As it is now, we report and it disappears into the interwebs with no apparent consequences.

Which is no different to anywhere else, other than that guildwars?(or was it Aion?) episode where grim reapers started appearing in game and killing off offenders.......

The point is innocent till proven guilty, which often isn't as black and white as the report and is even moreso when spoofing is involved.
