PvE is not planned and may never see the light of day.

Better to suggest it in the suggestions thread. Or ask in the current "Ask the Devs" 35.

Remind me about that time they said there would be no 3rd person.
EDIT: And no coolant flush.

I would like to see pve in the vein of tanks and jets and infantry. No mechs though. Just some sort of small environmental things that won't have huge effect on the pvp aspect. Currently the "worlds" feel extremely depopulated. I mean, we battle in a city with cars and trucks but non of them are moving or even destructible. It feels fake. I would love to see a rush of infantry that can be stepped on or a convoy of tanks to crush.

For example: in PvE, you need aerospace fighters to do fly-bys and drop bombs on 'Mechs. Now, we're getting some airstrike capability in the coming patch, and while I doubt it includes fighters you can shoot back at before they attack you, someday down the line--years maybe?--that would be a REALLY simple feature to add. Make some models (don't have to be high res since they're so far away) that fly overhead, drop some bombs, and if you shoot and hit their hitbox, they go down instead.
Or, in PvE, you need point defense turrets. Missile towers, dropship turrets, etc. Can't really run a PvE campaign without the quintessential assault on a dropship about to take off, can we?
Well, as they introduce more and more game modes to MWO, one of those game modes will inevitably have point defense on it. Because that's really, really easy to program: it would just be a destructable entity that, when it sees an enemy based on the Line of Sight Rules already programmed into the game, fires its one and only weapon.
And in PvE, you need enemy 'Mechs, right? Well, we already have those. They would have to add the ability for them to move, and add pathing maps to the current maps... and at this point, they would already have the 'see an enemy? Shoot it' AI for point defense...
Long story short, I don't think there's ever going to be a dedicated team making PvE possible. There won't be a concerted effort. But I do think that one day, PGI is going to look at their game and be like "Wow. 95% of the pieces required to set up a single-player or co-op campaign are already in here. We just need to plug them together and do a little bit of polish, and we have PvE."

Yup. It all depends on how many of the devs' imaginary friends (you know, that vast majority demanding 3PV) want PvE.

Well I do think they should make and ingame poll (like before a match) and release the results. They say that only the core minority doesn't want 3rd but how do they know the others want it.

They design and implement what will bring them money. They're making the game enjoyable for a wider audience and for that I am not upset.
I would love to see some form of PVE content, not saying I would play it at all let alone often. However, having the choice is all i'm interested in.
Exteel had some really fun PVE content. I would love to see something like that here.
