I have never piloted an assault mech, nor have any desire to do so. Just not my thing...

I know I must be in a small minority as the assault class definately seems to be the most popular (even had a match once that was 7 assaults & my lone medium on my team). Anybody else feel this way?

Or is there any class of mech that YOU have no desire to play?

I used to pilot only Hunchbacks; but they are so outclassed now by my Phract I don't run them anymore. I can get my phract up to 86k where my hunch was 90 i think maxed out.

I have more armor and more weight to play with a variety of weapons that my hunch could never mount. I have JJ's and run cool. I just realized that the medium class; specifically the hunch just wasn't worth using.

For the moment, I despise the assault class as a pilot as I can't take moving that slow. I tried a AWS for maybe 10 games, but just couldn't jive with the speed or lack thereof.

No you are not alone. I have never touched an Assault Mech, Light Mech, or ECM. I tend to pilot a Hunchback, Centurion, Trebuchet, or Cataphract.

I rarely play an assault. But I understand why many people gravitate to the most armor/most guns machines.

With great power comes great responsiblity. You obviously are not ready for that responsibility so you shy away from Assaults. I'm sure there are similar people like you out there. Not everybody has what it takes to be a hero.

I was exclusively a Jenner Pilot since way back in closed beta, one of the patches broke the games playability on lower end machines and it took so long before they fixed it that I was forced into using bigger slower mechs. Then streaks became massively OP and when combined with ECM it basically made the Jenner an obsolete chassis, since then I've switched into piloting mediums and heavies.

I've run Assaults occasionally at varying times, but I never liked them that much. I don't like being that slow.

personally i think you should try all the classes and mechs just to make yourself a more well-rounded pilot...gives you insight into your enemy

My teammates yell at me when I'm in an assault because I'm god awful.

Basically they are only happy when I'm jumping on peoples heads in my Jenner, except when that Jenner starts shooting fire instead of lasers.

To be fair, that's the only time I'm having fun in the game too. The worst part of my data gathering for my mech diversity experiements is the 20 or so matches I had to play in a freaking atlas.

WHY ARE YOU SO SLOW ATLAS.

Sad to say, i switched my Cent for an Jaeger because,

as long as the MM dont count the Mechtonnage, ist useless to play Medium for the most time. imho. They are not as strong as the Heavys and not as fast and small as the Ligths.

Once the MM counts the Tonnage again, they maybe become usefull again.

PARIAH!! YOU ARE AN ANOMALY!!! THOU HAS OFFENDED ATLAI...

Seriously though I usually stick to assaults, but lately I have purchased mechs and play the heavy and medium classes now.

I personally feel like an abberation, because I usually only see 1 Atlas a game or so, and rarely more than 2 or 3. Heavies and mediums seem to be more popular in my games.

This includes most of the current crop of assault mechs. I used to pilot an Atlas through most of CB, but then the CTF-3D became a trial mech and I gave it a shot. Now I run nothing but my 3D, swapping the UAC for a standard 5 and the LBX for a standard 10.

I'm a cicada pilot.
Love that lil' ******. Shame it's so huge... 5 tons heavier than a Jenner but almost twice the size? Whut?
Wish they made it smaller.

I think most people play a range, to keep things interesting. I have not run a light since closed beta, though I likely will in the not to distant future. I think assaults are probably the most popular but I tend to see many heavies running around also (even before this weekend). mediums and lights may be a bit less, though lights were more common before ecm. I will say i do not recall seeing many drops recently with more than 3 lights on one team.

The problem is with no weight or battle value limits, it just make sense for many to run the biggest mechs on the block.

I'll be piloting one of all class', this way I can experience the game on a broader spectrum. That being said my Treb's and Spiders have way better stats then my Catapults. Mind you there is a learning curve having started with SDR then to TBT then to CPLT.

Only the highlander left to aquire.

I've never used an Assault in open beta, I might buy the Highlander, and I am kind of tempted to try out a 6 PPC Stalker.

I've used my CTF 4X a little bit recently, which is kind of like an assault, because its slow.

I do think the Hunchback and Centurion are a bit outclassed right now - I think the Trebuchet is sufficiently fast and manuverable to be useful, but the 3 SRM6 Centurion Prime used to be an amazing zombie 'mech, however, the increased incidence of long range 'mechs and the recent SRM nerf means that I haven't piloted it for a long time.

well, you are comparing 20 tonnes difference and Medium VS Heavy so im not surprised. I prefer the Hunchie - and being underdog is cool.

To date, I have no desire to play lights. Assaults are my favorite, followed by heavies, then mediums. Been playing a lot of heavies lately though.

I've never played assaults (or lights for that matter) outside of a few runs with the trial mechs. I have mostly mediums and a few heavies in my bay. I keep telling myself I'll branch out eventually and then when I have the chance I go buy more of the same. The Highlander will probably my first assault buy, but until then I'll be tooling around in my Jager.

The engine cap messed up the med. class the most as they came with smaller engines stock. If they lift the cap the Hunch will prob. be called op just like it was in CB.

I used to only pilot medium mechs. That was my mech class of choice in mech 4, I run assaults now only because its what I started to try after launch because all I ran in closed beta was mediums. Also never had anything with ECM or LRMs and never owned a splatcat or 3L. In fact I am usually the "get the cool item 1 day before its changed " crowd.
