That said I always wish I could just stay in normal vision for the reason you describe, the visuals in the game are great.

It's harder. I'm sure I'm not doing as well as I did with thermal but I'm enjoying the game more.

In terms of gameplay I think the biggest issue I had wasn't tracking targets but more running into "short" stuff like buildings/etc. that are below mech waist-level while in pursuit. Luckily there was no ECM, so all mech's had the red/blue triangle hovering over them as they ran. A match with a lot of ECM would be interesting.
Also, "running dark" showed me (kind of scary) how well I seem to have memorized the map! I was running into cover by instinct!
I'm gonna keep running in the dark a bit, see if I can improve my match scores/results.
Thanks for the suggestion MischiefSC!

try turning Post Processing to Low, it kinda clears away a bit of that at the cost of only a bit of graphics sweetness

So over the next week I'm going to challenge people to see how many games they can play without Thermal. NV is okay for dark maps but otherwise.... do you have the situational awareness and perception to play without relying on colored blobs? Even on maps with visual obstructions like fog, snow and the like?
Cold turkey is a tough way to quit anything. I challenge YOU to see how long you can go without Thermal. Most of 1 game? How about only 1 game in 3, regardless of map?
How hardcore are you? Who's got the brass to just move on from 'shoot the colored blob' and into 'WYSIWYG'?
Anyone that doesn't suck is probably using some overlay or .INI tweaks to disable all those obstructions anyways.
I refuse to "cheat," and thus suck at this game, apparently. Same as so many other FPS games.

I suspect it is the opposite.

You mean adjusted a slider in "settings"? Shame on them.

We finally get new vision modes and you don't want us to try them?

No, we've been discussing several ways to "improve" our 8v8 game in my unit, and "more than one person" mentioned some third party programs he knows that are used to "make things clearer" and such by "the pro's."
I won't post further details due to TOS regarding hacks and the like. I don't think these particular tricks are really hacks, but they are a bit unfair. I like to play with all the eye candy on, and that is actually detrimental to being good at the game, which I find sad.

My KDR and win/loss have both gone UP - not just that but RCN and Frozen City which used to be my worst maps have become better for me.
Having to focus more, pay more attention, be more attentive and cautious as well as a clear view of exactly what location I'm hitting has helped a lot.
I use my lasers on RCN to illuminate targets now to get a better feel for positioning before I fire my ACs and the like. The visuals are just stunning; I saw some poor ******* get tagged by a 3x LB10X Phract with chain fire set up today. It was like watching fireworks.
Anyone else actually unmap the keys until April 2nd?

Hell, I would use only NV on River city night if it wasn't so glaringly bright that it made 1970s era tech look space age.
