I usually laugh at the fools that start rant posts, but dang it! I have hit my fill of lag lights. The issues is multi-fold and isn't just lag. My main issue is that I have played multiple games where I have watched a single spider or jenner chew an assault mech to shreds. Also, I have seen WAY too many light mech swarms annihilate teams of mediums and heavies. Why is this going on?

1) Lag - Yes, with rewind, laser hits on lights got better, but ballistics and missiles suffer yet.

2) Speed - PGI promotes speed (which promotes lag) in this game. Every mechanic they have in game promotes an engine arms race. Not only can you go faster with a larger engine, but you get free heat sink locations, AND you can turn better. I have yet to see a real life vehicle that can turn shorter by going faster, yet that is the mechanic in MWO. So not only to light mechs get more speed, making them naturally harder to hit, but they get more lag and increase manoeuvrability. This is a poor game mechanic.

3) Arm Swing - In MWO mechs without lower arms have no arm swing side to side. This was not the case in battetech. These mechs should have some arm swing. I can understand the stalker due to the size of the torso, but the Cat K2 or Jagger? Arm swing is one of the few ways you can actually get a good light pilot in your cross-hairs. MWO needs to look into giving some of the no arm swing mechs, limited arm swing.

4)Large mech Maneuverability - Even medium mechs are not able to stand in place and turn fast enough to keep light mechs in the cross-hairs. The only exception is when you use the broken game mechanic and dump in the max engine you can. Some tweaking to the game engine needs to be done so that mediums and heavies at least stand a chance of getting light mechs in their cross-hairs.

Basically, I have just hit my frustration limit with this game. Don't get me wrong, I am a light and medium mech pilot myself, but something is very broken when light mechs can curb stomp the other mechs in this game. I guess I am sick of spending a few minutes taking down a whole team, then spending the next 5 minutes trying to kill the remaining Jenner. It is ridiculous and is putting some serious kinks in my fun factor.

I pilot a Spider quite frequently.

1) Most people have rubbish aim. Understandable, since small fast targets should be tough to hit. Speed is the benefit to driving a light. Tissue armor is the drawback, and good pilots know how to spread damage across the entire mech.

2) Speed is gimped already, or my Spider would be going 190kph without speed tweak. That's a 50kph nerf which hurts the Spider BAD.

3) This is a problem, and just a sign of lazy piloting on the lights part. Collisions/knockdowns are the only solution here. I feel your pain, but not all lights hump a larger mechs legs.

4) Large mech benefit is firepower at the cost of mobility. The game is already tilted towards the heavy end, and with HSR for ballistics it will tilt further. The downside of this is it will push more lights into the pack mentality just to survive and make some of the issues you bring up worse.

TL;DR: Light nerfs with the energy HSR got rid of the marginal light pilots. Consequence is you will be dealing with pilots who know their craft.
