I think the game would really benefit from this as it gives people more things to spend cbills on, not to mention the color selection is quite slim. I suggest the following:

a grey
a black
a white
a yellow
a pink
a brown

Also for the mc colors, you might want to experiment with different things such as adding shiny or glowing pearlescent kinda colors.

Please. While paint is pretty much the best way to make money, we should have at least a few more colors to choose from!

They wont do it, because they WANT people to spend MC...
How would making it so you can have all the cool colors with cbills be a good business move?

Still, some variety of the colors would be nice. They can keep them the dull tones like they currently have for CBills, so the more attractive colors are still paid for with real money. I also like that idea of a chrome, pearlescent, etc paint option for MC, but am aware that would just make mechs into **** My Ride: Online. Soon after, you'll be spotting Green pearlescent Jagers with oversized radar spoilers, flashing gold spinners on their kneecaps. For gods sakes, man, think of the children!

If some guy wants to become a gauss magnet for 10 dollars in digital goods, I see no problem with that.

I'm willing to suffer need for speed Kurita drift colors as an mc option if we get basic complementary colors for cbill.

I feel like the kid whose parents hate them and bought the clearance box of crayons with 4 ugly colors in it.

Half the mechs on the field already look like zubaz pants.

Some people are doing it "ironically" (which is a terrible way to live your life), but the scary ones are the people that actually think it looks good ;)

I shudder to think what some pilots might do with pearlescent paints... or if it was actually cheaper to commit a crime against style and good taste

I'm not complaining that you shouldn't be allowed to do it or anything, just trying to make an appeal for a bit of subtlety

I have to agree with this. The C-Bill colours aren't all that great. Too garish.

I'm generally fine with the non-MC colors being crappy but there needs to at least be a yellow, given that some mechs (K2) are yellow on their icon and came that way prior to the whole customizable colors thing.

My favorite is seeing Vagabond in Blue, Green, and Red. It honestly looks like my computer is having difficulty rendering the texture on the mech. Horrifying!

They used to have like a basic 4 set of colors available for Cbills, now just drab green.

How does the paint on your mech make any difference to your visibility in the game? I can only see a mechs paint job up close, and especially with the gauss, I am shooting at ranges that makes just about any paint scheme irrelevant.

The c-bill colors are the opposite of "garish", they are muted and dull. I would love to see them come out with a basic yellow, grey, brown or whatever. There are plenty of ways they can make the basic colors for c-bills and still have a reason to buy MC colors.

Seconded. One color for C-bill basically cancel any MC transaction for the 10 MC colors closest in hue. For exemple, players won't buy obsidian black for 1000 MC, if they have camo black for CBills. Especially black and white who are very popular. Doing as the OP suggest would be dangerous for PGI's future.

Any game on a free to play model need to make it desirable to throw money at it, and that means not catering to the desires of players who won't buy anything.

Nah, this is how they make their money, and I'm fine with that because it doesn't add power. Rather keep the profits here, squarely on the cosmetic side of things.

I only see need for two more free colors:

Cyan for Rasalhague and non-default Green for Liao (not so subdued/camo/drab, but closer to their House Crest). So you can express your allegiance for CBs - currently mechwarriors of only 4 Houses can do it.

No no, they really are garish. While there are MC colours that are even more garish, compared to the camo colours they're pretty garish.

Or maybe a consecutive login bonus that gives you a pick of some colours or decals. Star conflict has it; log in every day for 5 days straight and you get a small amount of that game's mc equivalent (enough to buy a crappy decal).

We still need some more basic colors, I think war frame offers 18 colors for free. With basic colors to be used I see more players being interested in changing the color of their mech and subsequently more buying the mc versions of colors.

Agree. The Basic colors are desparately in need of CONTRAST. Even just a white would satisfy me.
