I've been waiting for assault hero for long time, but I don't have the mc's on my account now and I think this thing is gonna cost over 6k mc. That's a bit too much for me.

Pilot is a chick (AGAIN)? Big check.

Did not know you were a chick helmstif. I guess that explains some things.

The SRM6 left torso with an added on LRM10 to the side doesn't make sense to me. The concept art Highlander has a big *** 20 missile slot in the left torso instead. The aforementioned fake or something else entirely seems more probable. Six laser hard points or six tiny ballistics perhaps? Those options seem unlikely as well so I'm talking myself in a circle here... I'll just side with Punk KMSO and say they're fake!

Rhonda Snord's highlander? HECK yeah!

Just uh... please get that part of mech lab ready that lets us change hero mech colors, please. :) I want the music loud, not the paint.

I don't see any weapon ports in the right torso. That's really, really bad because if you completely loose your left torso, the only weapons you'll have left are located in the right arm only and arms are easy targets.

Am I just totally losing it, or didn't Rhonda Snord's Highlander have ECM? Could that set a precedent for ECM hero 'Mechs?

Yes, an ECM Assault mech on a Hero MC-only variant, and it would be the only ECM variant for the chassis.

Please, tell me more.

Usual highlanders have rt with energy, ra with ballistics while the left side is used for missiles.. here yes, you can cripple the hero mech by side torsoing the left side, that's a weakness for sure, but you also get 3 energy on an arm, which isn't a joke especially for a jump capable thing..

I had to triple check myself on this one. . the hero mech BEFORE the standard chassis??

Someone finally had an epiphany, and I wholeheartedly support this slight change in business model.

I do have to question the name "Heavy Metal" after reading this, however:

Quote

Rhonda Snord piloted a Highlander battlemech for most of her career, and was known to play Elvis Presley music over its external speakers.

Elvis is to Heavy Metal what Enya is to Dubstep, WTF :)

Are they seriously bringing out a Hero variant for an un-released mech before Hero mechs for variants that have been in since the start?

We have no idea. Theirs no ETA on when this hero mech is released. We only know its being released the same month as the highlander. Which is april.

Helmstif it was not a AC20 it was the LB-X Autocannon/20 that was added to a veriant

HGN-734 - The 734 Highlander emphasizes its role as an urban combat 'Mech, produced by the Lyran Alliance in the wake of the civil war. The Gauss Rifle has been replaced with a massive LB-X Autocannon/20, the medium lasers have been upgraded to ER Medium Lasers, the SRM-6 was upgraded to a streak version with another Streak SRM-6 launcher added, as well as an ER Large Laser. Upgrading the standard fusion engine to a new Light Engine and removing the LRM-20 launcher allowed these changes. Which is 3058

But to be honest when i get a Highlander i will be selling the Gauss Rifle and slapping a Ac20 in its place, since i don't want my Energy Torso slots going up as well due to a GR explosion. I can't wait man can't wait to work on some Crazy weapon configs .

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think the Highlander will be able to mount an AC/20 in its ballistic arm. According to the TRO files in Solaris Skunk Werks, each of the Highlander's configs have a lower arm actuator in the ballistic arm, so it can mount anything that has less crits than an AC/20 (think of the ballistic arm on a Cataphract).

The only reason the Lyran Highlander can mount an LBX-AC/20 in its gun arm with the lower arm actuator is because it takes advantage of the Battletech construction rules for being able to split weapon criticles with weapons that take up 8 slots or more between the arm and the side torso it's connected to. Such weapons use the most restricted firing arc of the two locations (in the LBX Highlander's case, the side torso).

If PGI implemented that rule, that would make it possible to mount AC/20s on a lot more 'mechs.

HGN-733C can mount an AC/20 in it's arm, no split critical locations.

I guess I missed that variant. I don't see it on Sarna.net, but it is present in MegaMek. I wonder if it's canon. If it isn't, I don't mind having one that can mount an AC/20 in the arm :)

I'm no chick, but a 'Mech officially piloted by a chick? That picture turns me on in so many ways.

I'm curious about engine sizes. Also wondering if this thing will knock the Atlas off the map.

Nope.

It is going to be a more mobile Atlas. Mobility means less firepower. Less firepower means Atlas is still king.

Im going to love it though. Crank up that engine and throw on the JJ's!

There are many famous female pilots in the Battletech Universe, such as Natasha Kerensky and the Red Corsair
