Hi,

I wanted to title this "Master mechs", but blinkin has taken that already.

Many people (including myself) are rather fond of some mechs that don't have 3 canon variants, which are sufficiently different to put the mech into the game (from what we can see, PGI may think differently). Ryvucz has started a poll in relation to this as well.

My suggestion is to have a class of hero mechs called "Master Mechs". These MC only mechs can only be unlocked and purchased after mastering three of any mech of a given weight class. You can only purchase a master mech of the weight class you have mastered. There would be no need to master three mechs of the exact same weight, just that weight class.

The Master mechs would be mechs which don't have the required canon variants. For example, you would be able to purchase a Thug (yes, I want a Thug. Can you blame me :) )

As long as these master mechs don't have any major advantage, then it won't be play to win, just pay for extra access.

Edit: Just to be clear, these Master series of mechs would be able to reach master levels of experience with just the one variant.

would you settle for the hatamoto chi? it's a lot like a thug and has several variants.

I like the Hatamoto Chi, but not anywhere near as much as the Thug. Thugs look down right mean. I'm sure PGI would do it justice.

I'm really not sure whether I like the idea or don't like the idea. On the one hand, it would be nice to have the option to use the mechs that have fewer than three variants. On the other hand, it costs quite a bit of money to place a mech in the game and I'd rather they spend those resources on full multi-variant F2P mechs. That said, if "master mechs" could pay for themselves then they could be introduced alongside the standard 3+ variant mechs. Currently, I don't think that the game is big enough for them to generate enough sales, but if the game were to get big enough to support these mechs then I think that this would be a great idea.

You have a good point about the F2P mechs, Metafox. It is definately my hope that they would make money for PGI at the same time as satisfying old diehards like me. I figure if people are willing to pay for vanity items, then i figure they would be happy to pay for mechs which there are less of.
