Here is the current lore on the hero mechs we have. I will be using Sarna, MWO, MWOwiki, and any TRO/Sourcebook I have around where said mech is mentioned.

Yen Lo Wang
The Yen-Lo-Wang is a custom BattleMech, piloted by Justin Xiang-Allard.
History
Pilot:
Title/Rank: Secretary of the Federated Commonwealth Ministry of Intelligence
Position; Davion/Steiner Seret Service Director
Birthplace: New Avalon
Age: Classifeid
Justin Allard, the Secretary of the Federated Commonwealth Ministry of Intelligence, will not ask his agents to do anything that he himself would not.Unfortunately for his operatives, Allard was once a deep agent in Maximilian Liao's inner circle on Sian, and so there were assignments that he could not accomplish. A MechWarrior to the core, Allard has a prosthetic left hand replacing the one he lost in a battle in his younger days.He is also his father's son, and inherited his post from his father, Quintus Allard, who resignedfollowing the failure of Davion intelligence in the War of 3039. He is married to the Duchess of St. Ives, Candance Liao, with whom he has two daughters and two sons.

Justin is a man of striking looks, owing to his Eurasian ethnic makeup (his mother was a Liao noblewoman of pure Terran-Chinese extraction, While Quintus is one of the rare individuals of Terran-European background). His features are distinctly oriental though his skin is pale. His straight black hair (worn longer now thean in his MechWarrior days) is beginning to be streaked with gray, and he has little facial or body hair. He is of average height and keeps himself in excellent conditionwith a demanding regimen of diet, martial arts training, and isometrics.
One of Justin's pet projects is coordinating Candace's effortsto undermine her sister Romano's dictatorship in the Capellan Confederation with those of her brother Tormana. To this end, Justin has made an undertermined number of FCMI agents available to Tormana for intergration with his own agents in the Confederation. The only real disagreement among the three is what type of undercover activity is most effective in the present situation, with Candace advocating sleeper "time-bomb" agents, Tormana favoring "agents provocateur, and Justin placing operatives in various levels of government in order to affect policy, as he once did in Maximilians court. All three are in place, and it will be interesting to see how their plans develop.

The Yen-Lo-Wang, named after the Chinese god of death, is a custom Centurion that was originally used by Justin Xiang-Allard in 3027 during his "exile" on Solaris VII and his Solaris Championship run. He modified the 'Mech originally with an Assault Autocannon and placed Titanium "nails" on the 'Mech's hand actuator. He used the 'Mech later during his career with House Liao's Maskirovka during the Fourth Succession War.
He gifted it to his son, Kai Allard-Liao when he first joined the Federated Sun's arms forces, where he served with distinction using the 'Mech during the Clan Invasion. Hanse Davion personally had the 'Mech modified with Star League technology when Kai refused to accept Wolf's Dragoon's produced Daishi Assault OmniMech, offcially passing it to Kai on 21 September 3050. The weapons had been replaced with a Von Ryan Gauss Rifle in place of Autocannon and Spitfire Medium Pulse Lasers, two on arm, one on torso and one on back. Additionally Mech was refitted with new generation of Triple Strength Myomer which did not burn when exposed to gas, the Miata 200 extralight engine, and three additional, switchable Heat Sinks. The 'Mech was briefly lost on Alyina, behind Clan Jade Falcon's Occupation Zone, but Kai later recovered it. Later, he used the mech as he followed in his father's footsteps as Solaris VII Champion.
Yen-Lo-Wang saw service again with Kai in the final assault of New Avalon island in 3067, protecting Victor Steiner-Davion from harm.
Sometime in the 32nd Century Kai gifted the 'Mech to his niece Danai Liao-Centrella. It had fallen in disrepair, and needed restoration. When Danai was old enough, she journeyed in early 3120s to gather parts to restore the 'Mech. She then used the 'Mech on Solaris VII, where she competed in the games and won the Solaris Open with it. She and Yen-Lo-Wang went into service of House Liao's Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry as part of 3120s incursion into Republic of the Sphere.

Armaments

The Yen-Lo-Wang was originally armed with an Autocannon/20 in place of the Centurion's Autocannon/10, two Medium Lasers and either a Hatchet or a Claw.
Later on, Hanse Davion had Kai Allard-Liao's 'Mech upgraded with a Gauss Rifle in place of the Autocannon/20, three Medium Pulse Lasers and TSM. Presumably sometimes in the 32nd century, the ancient 'Mech was refitted with a Heavy Large Laser, an LRM-20 with Artemis IV, a Hatchet, and a Shield, which was piloted by Danai Liao-Centrella.

The current does not make use of a Hatchet or Claw regrettably.
Official comment;
Will MechWarrior® Online™ have Mech melee combat?
At this point in time we are not looking at melee combat. We may revisit melee combat if we can design something that is fun and does not compromise the overall gameplay experience
So even though we haven't heard in a long time about it more there is a bit of hope.

Our first Hero Mech is now LIVE: Check out the Yen-Lo-Wang!

The Yen-Lo-Wang Hero Mech is a customized Centurion, used to win the Solaris Championships not once, but twice. Featuring a weapons load out of an AC/20 and two medium lasers, and almost as much armour as the Mech can hold, the Yen-Lo-Wang is a terror on the battlefield. In addition to the having to face the massive punch of that weapons load out and a quite healthy amount of armour, opponents also get to stare at a rather striking custom skin; a white and red painted chassis with red sunburst.

New Centurion Variant (CN9-YLW)
30% permanent C-Bill gain boost
3750 MC
Comes with a unique skin and colours
AC/20 in the right arm, and twin medium lasers in the centre torso
Two energy weapon slots in the centre torso, one AMS slot in the right torso, two ballistic slots in the right arm, and three module slots.
So if you would like to pilot the most iconic Centurion ever - get into the Mechlab, and go check out the Yen-Lo- Wang!

Cheers,
The MechWarrior Online Team

Grigori Kovalenko was born on planet Hassad in the year 2995. His family had lived in Capellan Confederation space for generations, until Hassad was taken by the Free Worlds League in 2917. While he did not embrace his Capellan roots, as he was a Free Worlds citizen, he did respect them and he grew up into a man with a heavy reverence for the concepts of honor and heritage. To that end, he joined up with the Second Regiment of the Twelfth Star Guards mercenary unit, having been impressed by their Star League Defense Force lineage, and the Twelfth Star Guards having been impressed by his piloting abilities. He served with them dutifully, fighting for the Federated Suns and the Lyran Commonwealth, up until the start of the Fourth Succession War in 3028.

When the Federated Suns launched their initial attack against the Capellan Confederation, Grigori was incensed, seeing the assault as little more than a cowardly sneak attack. Not wanting to participate on any attacks against the Capellans, he abandoned the Twelfth Star Guards and took his Mech, a Centurion, into Capellan space. It was there that he offered his services as a mercenary to the Capellan Confederation.

Shortly into the war, the Federated Suns captured the planet Tikonov and, with it, the Capellans’ newly up and running Cataphract production facility. Grigori took the theft of the Cataphract design and production as his new cause. He styled himself as a noble knight of old, with a quest to take back all Cataphracts from non-Capellan hands. Fatefully, it was not long before he encountered a Cataphract on the battlefield. With careful shooting, he disabled the Mech with minimal damage and took it as his own, replacing his aging Centurion. He dubbed it Ilya Muromets, after the legendary knight of Slavic myths, and emblazoned it with the noble Cameron Star of the Star League as a nod to his time with the Twelfth Star Guards and their connection to the SLDF. For the last 21 years he has been using Ilya Muromets to hunt down Federated Suns’ Cataphracts, meting out justice for their theft. Their salvaged remains have been used to repair and refit his own Mech to the point that it now operates with a unique loadout.

Canon

Grigori Kovalenko and his "Ilya Muromets" was created specifically for MechWarrior Online, the developers citing the lack of historical characters or 'Mech variants with suitably different weapon ie hardpoint layout in the pre- Clan Invasion era for use as a Cataphract Hero 'Mech (Cataphract George being easily replicatable with the CTF-2X variant)
Kovalenko's backstory also possibly conflicts with currently available sources for the Fourth Succession War which indicate the Twelfth Star Guards were not preparing to fight against the Confederaton and were instead fighting for the LCAF against the Draconis Combine as part of Operation Götterdämmerung, with the Second Regiment capturing Cebalrai

Twin Dragons
Then, we have not one, but two Hero Mechs – the Twin Dragons.

Piloted by brothers, these Mechs have very different styles of combat, with one focussing on close range brawling, and the other long range attack. They can be found side-by-side, ever trying to best the other. Born on New Samarkand and part of a noble family, they attended the Sun Zhang MechWarrior Academy together. Upon graduation, each was given a Dragon – to Martin, a DRG-1C belonging to his grandmother, and to Donald, a DRG-1N that belonged to their father.

While receiving many distinctions and each rising to the rank of Chu-i (Lieutenant), in charge of their own Lances, the brothers often got into trouble for taking un-necessary risks in order to best each other. After their DCMS company commander, who was furious at them, convinced them to cease these actions, and the brothers focussed on customizing their Mechs in an attempt to outdo the other.

Having now risen to the rank of Sho-sa (Major), each is in charge of their own Company. They work at the Sun Zhang MechWarrior Academy together, pushing their students to see who can produce the better class of MechWarrior pilots.

Piloted by Martin Takeda, the Dragon DRG-FLAME boasts the following load out of a medium laser, AC/2, LRM-5, and an ER Large laser. This Mech is a perfect design for those who love to pick off opponents at long range!

Piloted by Donald Takeda, the Dragon DRG-FANG boasts a load out of two medium lasers, an SRM 6, and an AC/10. Clearly a brawler, this Mech is perfect for those pilots who are all about high armour, speed, and getting into the fight.

I expect to see quite a few of these running around in the coming days!

Captain Bono Duganmare
Commander of a company of the 22nd Skye Rangers, Duganmare has the unenviable task of training inexperienced warriors. Quiet yet demanding in his silver Commando, The Death's Knell, the captain moves about the training field, cajoling his men to work harder. If that approach does not produce results, he resorts to a trainee 'Mech's backside instead.
Though concerned about his men's welfare in battle, Duganmare knows enough to let them do their jobs with great tactical expertise. Not a flashy hero with many kills to his name, he nevertheless has earned the respect of both his men and of his superiors, who treat him like a valuable resource. Some recent rumors suggest that he will head up the first Commonwealth Military Academy on Tharkad.

Well this mech is based off the 2-D commando canonicaly not much I can add to that.

Pilot:
TRO 3025 (original)
MechWarrior Danielle Peterson
A memeber of delmar's assault lance, Tagaki's Batallion of Chisholm's Raiders, Danielle does not look the part of a MechWarrior. Blond and beautiful she has what many call "the knack". Though joking and friendly outside of her Mech, when Danielle buttons up in her Awesome, she seesm to become one with the machine, able to react as if it was her own skin. This has saved her on more than one occasion when surrounded by enemy 'Mechs. In one instance, she literally skipped aside with her Awesome the Pretty Baby, to avoid an incoming missle strike aimed at her. Danielle is famous throughout the Succesor States for her skill in piloting the unually unmaneuverable Awesome.

TRO 3039
Leftenant Danielle Peterson:
As a member of the Chisholm’s Raiders, Peterson has a petite build and physical beauty that is atypical of MechWarriors and seemingly at odds with her Awesome’s appearance. She is highly regarded for her exceptional piloting ability, and the extraordinary agility and performance she displays in her BattleMech have been well documented. Seemingly uninhibited by the Awesome’s typical lack of maneuverability, Peterson’s incredible skills have made her and her Awesome (“Pretty Baby”) famous in all the Successor States. Several Solaris VII stables have off ered her tremendous financial rewards were she to retire and join them, but so far she has publicly maintained that her allegiance to the Federated Suns, and she claims she does not intend to retire until they are done with her.

CDA-X5 - The X-5 is a prototype for an advanced Cicada. Outfitted with Ferro-Fibrous Armor, Double Heat Sinks, an XL engine, and Endo Steel skeleton, it still manages to outpace all medium 'Mechs and almost all light 'Mechs, with a top speed of 133.7km/h. Its armament is optimized for short range, with four medium lasers and a pair of SRM-2s fed by an experimental ammo system, giving it a light armament by medium 'Mech standards, but still much better than the older 2A, 2B, and 3C variants. Though the design was highly successful in testing, a combination of the extreme price of production, the relative fragility of the 'Mech, and the difficulty of piloting the 'Mech due to its extreme speed and higher inertia (as compared to comparably fast light 'Mechs) prevented the X-5 from entering production. The few prototype models deployed in combat after testing concluded proved to be a deadly force on the battlefield. Lessons learned with this model were applied to the 3F variant, though the missile capability was dropped due to jamming issues. (This is an apocryphal 'Mech, designed for MechWarrior Online.)

Special thanks to http://mwowiki.org as it allowed me to get the specs fast.

Well that is all for now when the Heavy Metal comes out I will do write up on it and on the very notable pilot Rhonda Snord our first Freebirth clan pilot.

I've been rereading the old battletech novels since I started playing MWO. And at this point in robot history the Yen Lo Wang is piloted by Kai Allard and the robot is painted in camo. Might be cool in the future if they gave the YLW the option of having two custom paint schemes.

...

Yen-lo-wang did not share the other 'Mech's ice and snow camouflage. Until recently, it had been kept on the planet Kestrel, the Allard ancestral holding. It had been painted in a mottled brown and black pattern, with some blue near the faceplate, mimicking the coloration of a falcon. Over the left breast, the falcon rampant crest of the Kestrel Militia had been stenciled in black.

I wish the OP would have used the same formatting for each entry. But apart from that it is a so/so write up for those who are not in the know.

My tip is to re-formate it so all entries have the same look and design.

I admit half of it is copy paste and I acknowledged that fact. However the stuff straight from TROs I had to hand type (still copying).

This was made to make a consolidated are of Lore info for fast access to users new and old. Also as this is not fan fiction there would be next to nothing original. So your snarky comment fails on many levels.

You are a terrible person and should feel terrible for lacking the basic understanding of the environment around you.

Quick update for the Heavy Metal the base should be a HGN-732 as from lore.

Now that mech has:
Stock Equipment
Engine: 270 Standard
Speed: 53.2 km/h (estimate)
Structure: Standard Armor: 277
Heat Sinks: 12 single
Stock Armament
RA: 1 Guass
RT: 2 Medium Lasers C.A.S.E.
LT: 1 LRM 20 C.A.S.E.
LA: 1 SRM 6
Jump Jets (6 tons)
90m
Ammo is 2 tons of each

So what we can tell from the image is
3 Mls in LA
1 Guass RA
1 SRM 6 1 LRM 20 LT(possible placement could be in LA)

Odd note is that Square also in the LT it could be a NARC or maybe a Small laser.

Again this is speculative for now.

Also I will add Rhonda Snords History up soon I am trying not to overwhelm on the lore and for her there is a lot of lore around.
