What is the "2x" signifying on elite'd mechs?

I believe your Basic Proficiency bonuses are doubled once you complete the Elite Efficiencies for that variant.

It is true. Period. Choose a basic skill in the 2x column, notice the description now says efficiency doubled, there is your proof.

Cool, I had not noticed the wording "Efficiency Doubled" until pointed out to me in this thread. Thanks. I have not worked the mechs to master yet, do the elite skills also get doubled?

yea and the 2x efficience bonuses are kind of better then all the elite bonus' combined (except speed tweak)

Better is relative.. some mechs become very twitchy once the 2x hits.. kind of wish we had the option to turn that off per chasis. I'm tired of getting whiplash in some of my mechs
