.

I can't decide which to get the AL or the Hunch :S...in the past I always rolled well with the hunch laser boat but the AL's arm guided 2x large lasers ,is giving me hard time deciding.

Currently have the Cent A with a Gauss and 2 PML's.

I try to stick with the group and aim for the 1st mech that separates or my teammates are aiming for, I would also like to be able to defend my self better when facing 1 on 1's and them pesky light

mechs which my Cent A couldn't do very well and I doubt the AL would do any better :S. I don't roll with missiles now because I have a 2 sec firing delay playing from NZ...so I'm sticking to ballistic and more to lasers now ;) thoughts?

I would get the AL. The laser hunch is too easily disarmed, while the AL gives you pretty good maneuverability and durability.

The AL has 4 laser hardpoints plus 2 missle hardpoints. the AL is a personal favorite of mine as I like to pack a nice SRM punch. And the weapons are a bit more spread out than the Hunch's I think on that laser boat hunch six are in one shoulder right? I always take out that shoulder first if I run into a hunch unless its that oddball 4sp. All the cents have 2 laser hardpoints center torso so even if you lose both shoulders you still can pack a 10 point punch until you die -took out an atlas with my Cent D the other night. But I think its really personal prefrence just my two hundred pesos

Oh and Team Leader is right. My AL does 92.7 kmh and is super agile!

I Elited my AL using 2 large lasers, 2 medium lasers, and 2 SRM6s. It worked out WAY better than the Hunchback, which I hardly touched admittedly. If you're more of a ranged player then 3 large lasers works pretty well for it too.

Strictly speaking Hunchies are better for boating lasers most of the time.

Want to boat just lasers? the HBK 4P has 9 laser slots, with one in each arm, 6 in the torso, and 1 in the head. The AL only has 2 in the arm and 2 in the torso, so is very limited on what it can bring. The AL can be disarmed of its large lasers easily by taking off its one gun arm, while the 4P has 2 arms with lasers, and a crapload in the torso.

Want to use lasers and missiles? That's really what the AL is for, but the HBK 4SP again has more laser hardpoints with 4 in the arms and 1 in the head (so a max of 4 large lasers or PPCs) compared to 2 in the arm and 2 in the CT for the centurion (for a max of 2 large lasers or PPCs.) Again the HBK is harder to disarm, and they have the same number of missile slots with the same usability but the 4SP spreads them out more.

The only thing the centurion has going for it is better zombie mode (where you have nothing but CT weapons) and it can mount a bigger engine (but that prevents zombie mode.) It's also easier to use your arms as shield in the centurion, giving it good durability in the hands of a veteran pilot, but the arsenal is generally inferior.

Centurion all the way, the only good hunchback is the SP IMHO, sure there are good classic AC\20 hunch pilots, but theyd be contributing more in an ac40 jager

Zombie mode is where you lose both arms and shoulders and are nothing but a Torso cockpit and legs ;o And the only way to lose the two lasers in the torso is to die. So ya take off both of a Hunchie's shoulders and he's basically useless..aside what he's got in his head.

Do all hunchbacks have a energy slot in the head or only a few?

Never tried the Centurion. The Hbk p variant gives the ability to give a 7 med laser punch on the one spot. Just need to watch the heat.

You can get the CN9-AL and have 3 Large Lasers with a fast standard engine and plenty of Double Heat Sinks enough to keep the mech cool.

Here you go

Most mechs with arm hardpoints are disarmed when both arms are shot off.
Cents have torso hardpoints so losing both arms allow them to fight even after lots of damage.

Centurions are known for the zombie mode. Their center torso is quite small. As long as you keep your CT and LT you have 2 lasers and 2 missiles. Lose both arms? Lose right torso? You can still do 30 damage per hit with 2 MPLAS's and 2 SRM6's.

Mediums are a waste of a drop point compared to a heavy. Get a Cataphract, Jag or Catapult and help your team win. Zombie Centurion - half a C4 without jumpjets. Hunchie - like a slower, less well armed Jag or the same speed but half the firepower of a Cataphract.

Mediums are currently holding the short end of the stick. Heavies are just as fast but with more armor and far more weaponry.
