So I have finally completed my first mech (Stalker -5S a.k.a. Zeratul) after lots of testing and have a boat laod of left over supplies to use for the next mech i buy. This is my final build with a little help from Gidonihah

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...76cc3e9205461ef

When all is said and done, this is what i am left with for inventory;

Engines:

XL 255
STD 275

Weapons:

4 x ER LL
2 x ER PPC
2 x LL
4 x LPL
4 x MPL
4 x PPC
1 x TAG
3 x LRM 10
2 x LRM 15
2 x LRM 20
4 x SRM 6

I have all basic effieiencies unlocked with 125k unspent Xp on my 5S. I wonder if its better to getter' done and buy more Stalkers? Or Does anyone reccomend anything else?

If i dont buy a Stalker, I would be more inclined to get a Catapult or a Raven but i am very open to suggestion and would really like some serious replies.

Thank You

I'd get another mech you want to try next. that way if out of both of them you prefer the new one over the stalker you can use the next bays for the new one, whereas if you just get the next stalker then your already all in with stalker mastery. see?

Sides its nice so you don't burn out or become complacent with the mech.

btw good job knocking it out. :)

Thanks Man, I Really love and enjoy a competitive game. I usually try to maticulously study the game before i dive into it which is why I own 1 mech and all this extra stuff. In doing so i feel I have learnt alot. Perhaps you are right in suggesting to buy a differnt style mech. I can use the skills I have learnt and apply them to learn new aspects of the game.

What would you suggest my next step be? Am i right in choosing a light as my next mech or would it be best to get into a heavy instead?

The XL 255 will fit nicely into some decent builds, I've used one on my spider 5d (wouldnt really recommend this, underpowered - but fun), cataphract 4x and jager-DD... Pm me if you're interested in the builds, or better yet - check out www.mechspecs.com.
The 275 std could maybe work well in something like a hunchback, treb or cataphract, but it really boils down to what sort of playstyle interests you, scout, brawler, fire support etc...?

As for the catapault and raven, both are solid choices, but I haven't played them much so won't comment much, other than it's my opinion that both of these chassis have 1 or 2 variants each which kind of...suck, so mastering them might become a pain...

Remember only the worst mech will churn out a better pilot. If we beat you up everyday your going learn to handle it. :)

I like Fish's advice, check and see what equipment comes with the new mech and what old equipment you can use on them.

Jager is fun.

You didn't specify how much you had to spend but the Highlanders are coming out next month and will probably cost 9 million a whack.
The Jagermechs are ok, but I still prefer the catapult and cataphract chassis in most cases.

If you want an absolutely top tier 'mech that's suitable for pub or serious gaming, pick up a Cataphract 3D.

You can't go wrong with it: It's mobile with the jets, makes a great jump sniper and has enough slot flexibility to serve any role (jump sniper or not). Well armored, good durability, competent speed.. it's really the king of the heavies right now.

If you'd like to learn how powerful jets can be and make that into your new style, and want something that can be reasonably mobile and fast, it's a good choice.

EDIT: Just about EVERY serious unit has no reservations about fielding 3Ds; it's always a welcome 'mech to find out is in a pilot's garage.

I do have a video about the stalker. The build isn't quite like yours but it has streak missiles in it too.

If you havent tried something like my build in a stalker you really should. Its solid. The thing overheats only when you want it too, it takes a beating and a half, and 6x medium lasers are no slouch when it comes to sniping components and heads. Imo the Medium Laser is the all around best weapon in the game. My stalker 5S Being built around the STD310 Engine wont leave you disappointed. The extra nearly 20% movement speed and defense it over the stock XL 255 makes dealing with lights and catching opponents off guard exponentially easier and safer. Its a Tactical Brawler build that is designed specifically to profit from positioning before anything else, Making defense of teamates and self preservation its number one priority. The Second AMS Slot is the unsung hero of my build and would be the real reason for anyone to buy the chasis, allowing for a singnificant reduction in damage when closing the gap on LRM boats.

From the way you play the buildings in River City This build is perfect for you MadPanda !

I would go for heavy mechs. CTF X2 with a standard, AC 20, 3 MLs and 2 SRM6 (I call it the Mini Atlas). I love the dual gauss X4 too.

Catapults are pretty good too. I wouldnt go for a Jager. Bought one and didnt like it at all.
Dragons are nice mechs too with really good speed.

Atlas are excellent too. And finally, one of my best mechs in my hangar, the Awesome 9M with 2 Erppcs, 1 ML and 3 SRM4. Hell you can even mount an XL 385 in there and run at 86kph in an assault mech!
