PGI reaaaaally needs to hire a PR team who doesn't consider ******* off the community part of their job description.
Not sure thats true though dude, some of the PGI devs came out and said specifically that IGP had nothing to do with the coolant fiasco. It's PGI looking for a way to line their pockets causing this, not IGP.

It will most likely NOT be a full-blown explanation of everything to come, but they are onto it, they hear us, and they are at least stewing over it like we are.

What I will say, is that I honestly had faith in you, PGI. Paying to play in a merc corp? That idea is absolutely outrageous. I feel as if I have been violently slapped in the face.
This is, by far, the worst news regarding MWO that I have ever heard. You're gonna need one hell of an explanation to clear this up, PGI.

This is a pretty serious breakdown, too.
It's a profoundly bad idea to make such vague and obviously inflammatory statements shortly before a holiday, then wander off without clarification (or even actually stating it) on their own forums.
People are really upset, and there's likely a lot of people really pissed off without actually knowing how this is going to play out.
But this, for once, isn't a forum overreaction. Community Warfare is *THE* promised feature of this game, it's the game people have waited for.
It's been under a total communications blackout for... well, since the start of open beta at least. There's been NOTHING.
Now we get an offhand statement like this? Right before a long weekend, and nobody thinks it would be a good idea to clarify anything on the official forums?
How can this end in anything good whatsoever?

Really? a 4NonBlondes reference? With a Heman reference? this could be the high point of the thread right here. Thats the 80s, the 90s, and Mechwarrior all in one post.
On topic however: I wouldn't be against something like a monthly cost for a merc corp. even if that monthly cost was MC. Just make sure the corp leaders have a general MC account people can donate into. No one chips in, they don't have a corp.
on edit: hellfire, quoted the wrong damn thread

Still haven't seen one reason why we should P2Play with friends in a uniform coherent unit? Otherwise you have your unit split across how many house factions? What's then the purpose of having created our Merc Corps over the last year, if a percentage of players will never have the incentive or the ability to outlay money just to play with friends?
It just makes me want to leave my unit because I would never be able to help them in the meta game... probably end up in a more complete, more immersive and fun game... which if PGI keep pushing these ideas through is what we're moving from...

You live next to an illegal grow-op that caught on fire when they overloaded an extension cord, that's all.
Okay, seeing that there will be an official post thing soon, I am going to do stuff around my house for a bit and let others work with the comments about the official acknowledgement.... See ya'll dirt-side...

Respectfully i doubt it will actually address the main concerns
The exact same thing happened with the coolant issue and PGI's statement amounted to barely changing anything from what we actually though it was
I see no reason they'll change there modus operedi for this

my jaw dropped
so, PGI is not only splitting the community, they're fragmenting it to hell
there will be segregated regional servers, out of those: 1st person players, 3rd person players, both; and out of those some will pay for CW while others won't
gee .. I can now feel proud I haven't spent a single cent on MWO
