Ok so I decided to equip the old gauss rifles on my 4X today, pretty sweet. Medium to long range the things are great, but coming into close range I'm not so sure. When I'm engaged in close combat, I usually have 1 shell hit and one fade into oblivion or both fade into oblivion. No explosions, no hit registration, nothing (assuming I don't shoot the old cross-eyed crap). Where do these things go?

Dude Where's My Shell?

How close? Like less than 60 meters close? The Gauss Rifle does have a minimum range.

There are issues with projectile hit detection right now too. You can nail a mech dead on, see the reaction, and get no damage or hit it in the back when shooting it dead center in the front or any number of other goofy things. Arm convergence is also a big problem, especially up close.

"Mysteries of the Void" - "What Lives Between"
How do you know there aren't creatures living in Hyper-Space? And MAYBE THEY DON'T LIKE US GOING THROUGH THEIR AREAS FOR FASTER THEN LIGHT TRAVEL!!
Is it a coincidence Humanity has been at constant war since using Hyper-Space for FTL Travel? Maybe, just Maybe Creatures live in Hyper-Space who are not happy and they disappeared your Gauss Rifle!!
