So.... Are Urbanmechs The Battletech Equivalent Of Ewoks? (Or, Hey, Got A Really Really Looney Idea For Making Urbies And Elementals Viable)

Heh.
In MW:O the stock urbie (not Bishop's hero version) would max at a 240 rated engine, which is what, around 105/113 or so? I want to say that's 8/11, but I forget the translation and whatnot. Besides, the stock design has a 60 rated engine? Does MW:O even have those?
So yeah you could, theoretically, have a fast urbie. If you are defining fast by Hunchback terms.

Since I am reduced to playing MWO on a laptop by WiFi at a Starbucks, I have not been running my main account. I set up a be freebie, one, not to skew my stats, but also, been awhile since I ground it out. So I played about 4 hours today (grind was so horrible, I already have my own commando and jagermech... And still got 4-5 cadet matches to go).......
Anyhow.. The current trials aren't the best. Well for giggles I decide to run the Commando 3A. First match, I get 3 kills, 3 assists and about 300 damage. Next match, no kills, and a lot of assists and decent damage.
What's this gotta do with Urbie? Well, prevailing wisdom is you gotta do 140 in a light, preferably with ecm and streaks, or you die. In 8 matches, my 97 kph Commando without ecm, died 2 times. Mind you, I only got 4 kills, but a lot of assists. And I was a Huge nuisance. Mostly because I waited top the big guys were engaged, the crept up behind and bit em in the *** with my Srms. I was hard to see, easy to ignore, but had bite.
While the Urbie only hits 97 kph in a wet dream, the point is the same. Try to fight lights, or go toe to toe, you die. Use terrain and patience, and you are surprisingly dangerous to the big guys. With some hard point play, who know what you could get. I had a TT one that mounted 8 srm4 racks. EIGHT! Sure it didn't have much ammo, but it didn't need it. I could easily see gauss, multi ac, ac20, 9 medium lasers, like the hunch. Mostly because while canon variants were limited, they are way too common not to be modded up the bottoms.
Sure they aren't optimal... But neither was that commando! By smurfy scale, neither have any place on the battlefield. But with the right ppaybstyle, in the tight confines of a city, urbie can indeed come out and play!

We still can't get AI Infantry, tanks, helicopters, jets, APC's so I am skeptical about it.
If we just could have some buyable single player campaigns like in War Thunder? That would be sweet... CO-OP campaigns anyone? I would be getting my wallet out...
But AI controlled Urban Mechs in PUG Matches? Not sure... I would rather see occasional Rommel or even a lightly armed scout helicopter... to look for that last pesky hidden raven
Well I'm not absolutely against that, but then what would stop devs putting in lances of ravens, commandos, catapults etc...
Mechs I think should stay in human hands... there is already more Mechs in the field than there was ever in Inner Sphere Like I have over ten and some got over 40??? Hell we are very rich considering universe we play in

Ewoks are second only to Jar Jar Binks himself for both annoyance and uselessness.
Ewoks > Urbanmechs

well, becuase since Urbies are "so horribad" it would be the only design that having a gaggle following you around couldn't be called P2W somehow.....

Ghetto Urby mech. I would LOVE to see an 8v8 sync drop drop 16 of these and just ******* go to town on one another. It would rule absolute face.
Cannot possibly be a Ghetto Urbie. No JJ. It is like someone tried to make an extra ghetto Hollander

If you are making a passing reference to the bit of insignificant, trivia worthy lore that has absolutely nothing to do with Urbanmechs that I think you are, then you sir are very win.
