Mad Cat and Timberwolf are the same mech, and the Mad Cat MKII is a 90 ton jump capable version of the Mad Cat, and the Mad Cat MKIII is a medium version of it.

No, they called it that because they didn't know the name of the Mech, thinking it was an odd amalgamation of a Catapult and a Marauder.

Calling it something else doesn't change the fact that it's a Timber Wolf.

Here a true clanner must correct you. Timberwolf is a 75 an omnimech desighned by Clan Wolf. It resembles something that crossbred a Catapult with a Marauder (hence the name Mad Cat - because the targeting computer switched between Marauder and Catapult). Mad Cat MKII is a Clan Sea Fox (then Clan Diamond Shark) desighned 90 ton battlemech, made solely for trade with inner shpere. Although desighned postv invasion, it mounts thechnology clans used up untill 3050. Beacuse it was desighned for trade with inner sphere most claners deem it tainted and will not use it. I don't know much about the MKIII only that it sprung up post Fed-Com Civil war and that it weighs 50-55 tons.

Regardless of the history behind the 'Mech, that doesn't change the fact that in the 'Sphere, it's called a Mad Cat. Wave your haughty, high-strung "pureblood" Clanner stuff around all you want. If you're using an IS targeting computer, you're gonna get "Mad Cat".
