Hey guys - quick question...

When selling back a mech that has double heat sinks - how much cash do you get back? It's 1.5m to buy, so is it 750k to sell?

No.

You get a fraction of what the mech is worth if you sell it.

It's always better to just keep the mech, unless you just have to have that garage slot back.

Upgrades are not taken into account when you sell a 'Mech. It's just the base 'Mech itself and (if you check the box) any weapons/equipment/ammo you have installed.
