i love the tears people feed me when i shot them,
the new jagers whit dual gauss/ac20 are the most satisfiying to kill when they go cry and report you for so called aimbotting,
please keep on feeding me whit your tears,

Edit: I'll add though. No matter what game it is. Getting one shot, by anything, is never fun. Especially if you're new. For an Online PVP game, I personally feel there should never bee one shot mechanics, that's just bad balance.

Meaning: 1x Atlas RS with 2x ER /2x normal PPC and 2 STK with each 4 normal and 2 ERPPC. Last one was a dual AC20 Jager. Yes, those builds - alone - are not THAT useful. However, if you ONESHOT lights regularly at 500m (which happened quite a few times) and if anything bigger then a light simply explodes after a few seconds (since there are 16PPCs in one salvo - and cooling flush if needed + overheat provides 2 salvos...and possibly a third (with long cooldown). So is it useful? Not really, no...but it was funny and surprisingly effective.

While it's sad to see new players leaving your friend propably isn't cut for competitive multiplayer games if he gives up so easily. Do not blame the game.

But, once the general melee' begins those Stalkers (or any PPC boat) is at a severe disadvantage. They move slow, usually do not turn well, and they can not fire very often for full effect. Circle them, aim for a side torso, when that torso bows you will either kill them (if they mount an XL) or you will take 1/2 of their weaponry. Never stand still in front of one, never move slowly near one. Remember that they are dangerous as a sniper, but not as a brawler.
And it *is* tough on the new players, they have not learned how to deal with them yet and probably do not know where to look for snipers, and even if they see a sniper they most likely do not recognize it for what it is as quickly as a vet player. All I can say to that is.... MWO has a steep learning curve, and it is very unforgiving of new players. Stick with it, join a voice chat server and ask questions.

Even if boat aren't very good mechs, they can be a real pain for the average Joe trying to learn the game.
A mech able to one shot another one just by seeing a bit of his shoulder should not be in the game. It real sad to see a friend just new to the game cursing and stopping playing because he was killed by such monster. 6 x PPC or ERPPC = 60 dmg)
I thing they are a very negative aspect of the game, they hurt the fun factor of every one.
If such mech exist to sell coolant....that's bad very bad.
Just add a restriction stating that the max PPC Or ERPPC is 4 because that over that the strain is to much on the mech. (or something like that).
Laser boating is also a pain ( 6 x ER LASERS = 54 dmg) but less is critical.
I hope you do something to protect the fun factor of the game.
See you in game !
AC40s and ERPPC\Gauss hybrid snipers are way harsher on the nubbins IMHO

Now think how a new player feels loading in a game to play and vaporised in the first volley that hits him. They aren't going to dodge between building so much, if they step out to shoot and die straight away then it's not an enjoyable experience.

I learned to dodge and weave after getting obliterated many, many times in my newbie days (my KDR was 0.3 at one point). Why can't others?

if you can catch one alone, it isnt that much of a problem. but most of the time it is backed by several mechs that deliver close range support for the stalker. This IS a problem, if you run into a 6 ppc stalker that is backed up by an ac 20 jäger, an ecm ddc and a raven/commando that is constantly dashing around.
and this happens quite frequently. yesterday i did a MWO marathon, playing 12 hours in a row. at the beginnig everything was fine and fluffy. after a while i began to run into groups that were set up like this. combine this with frightening accuracy, you cannot advance to the stalker, without being torn to shreds by his backup crew, and if you stay at range, you are being sniped to death.
its unbelievable how good some people are at long distance sniping. they can leg a raven, cruising at way over 100 kph at distances well beyond 1km regularly.
TL;DR: one trick ponies (aka focussed builds) arent nearly half as bad if they are backed up by builds that complement them.
So you're saying people that play and support each other are dangerous. Got it,

I would love to see this, it would add a level of complexity that this game desperately needs. There are too many people using cookie cutter, 1 button wonder builds, and it takes away from the game.

I think some of you just don't know what the hell you're talking about. You get killed by a particular weapon a few times and suddenly you're an expert on game and weapon balance.

PGI can do what MW4 did--implement weapon hardpoint system. Voila, no more Gauss in MG slot or PPC in ML slot.
Coolant has very limited use and is mostly good for brawling as sniping usually allows your mech to cool.
I for one ( any many of us veterans of MechWarrior 4) Do not want to see the same mistakes again. We do not want a MW4 Hardpoint system. But, alloted critical for specific weapon types would be good. Unfortunately, that would mean half of what you can do with a mech would be impossible.
Thankfully, that will not happen.
