I've read in a few posts on the forum that there's a cap on speed, so even if your mech says it can go 150kph, it will actually only go a max of 140kph.

Is this true? or outdated info? I've built my Jenner picking an engine that will max out at 140kph with speed tweak, but I'm starting to wonder if I did that based on incorrect or outdated information.

My Jenner with an XL300 engine and speed tweak is able to go 152.7 kph fast. As far as i understand it, this speed cap is the limitation to what engines can be put into a mech. Engines range from 100 to 400 but it seems all fast going mechs are capped at their engine size to limit them to around 150 kph.

There is supposed to be a limit to the engine size of a 'Mech, based on the default engine size in each variant.

For lights, the max engine is (default engine size x 1.4)
For mediums, the max engine is (default engine size x 1.3)
For heavies, the max engine is (default engine size x 1.2)
For assaults, the max engine is (default engine size x 1.2)

However, there is a hard cap of ('Mech tonnage x 8.5) for engine size on any 'Mech. This is due to the netcode having a problem with 'Mechs going faster than about 153 kph (causing lag).

So ... while a Spider should theoretically be able to mount a 340 (default engine size 240 x 1.4 rounded up), it is hard-capped at 255 (30 x 8.5).

Your Jenner should have a max engine of 345 (default engine size 245 x 1.4 rounded up), but it's hard-capped at 300 (35 x 8.5 rounded up).

They have said that when the netcode is fixed, they will lift the hard coded limit. I hope they do, because it would allow the various light 'Mechs to be further differentiated from each other with different maximum speeds.

the mech will says it going faster then it is when you have it going 153kph, i believe its capped at 150kph, since the spiders sole purpose in life is to be as fast and mobile as possible, id love to see it with the real max engine (340) when they fix the netcode
