So here's an idea, as more and more gamemode's are introduced, the risk of completely segregating the playerbase increases by leaps and bounds. I believe a big part of the problem that folks have with Ideas that are significantly off center, like TDM with respawns, is that they can't de-select it. They'd only have the option of including it in their rotation, or only playing one gametype.
That's a problem.
Its a problem because different game modes will cater to different features and balance points, and something perfectly reasonable in one gamemode could unbalance another gamemode to unplayability. In that environment it becomes an "us vs them" in the forums, which is not good for the community.
My proposed solution is a change to the game mode selector. Make each mode individually selectable/deselectable. That way, people that despise one mode type, dont have to completely segregate themselves from the rest of the playerbase just to avoid it.
If there's only one gamemode they absolutely hate, they dont have to play it. Give them a check box for each gamemode, and they can select and deselect individual gametypes at will.
ie.
Game Mode Options
Y/n Enable Assault?
Y/n Enable TDM?
y/N Enable Conquest?
Y/n Enable KotH?
y/N Enable Capture the Flag?
Y/n Enable Siege?
This style of selection could be the easy, community-inclusive, method to implementing new game modes without all the flashback and thread degradation that has become the recent norm.
