IGP and PGI both responded to my email and forum posts. They think its a great idea and are putting through proper channels. With any luck we will be able to have a charity league with cash prize and donations to help worthy causes!!!

We will have to see what they decide! You can help by either sending in support emails to customer service or posting on here saying simply "support". No need for political statements or trolling.

Thanks to PGI and IGP for even considering this worthy endeavor!

Are you saying we will be able to spend MC to enter tournaments and they will have prizes, and some of the money paid will benefit charities? This sounds like fun. Great idea, and kudos to the developers for getting on-board with it.

If they do this I think it would be nice if you could "sponsor a friend." Say you have MC on your account and your friend doesn't. It'd be cool if you could pay his entry fee.

Always up for a challenge, never hurts to have fun competing and at the same time help a good cause. What could get better than that?

No - I had posted a week ago that I would be putting up 4k for prize money and the entry fee would be a yet to be determined donation to wounded warriors.

If that worked I would create "seasons" where different charities would be benefited - here and abroad. I won't do it without the support of IGP or PGI as I want it to be official.

Thanks.

I guess you will need a lot of people to enter the tournament for it to net more proceeds than the 4K of prize money you are putting up. Personally, I am not a very good or experienced player, so I don't think I have much chance of winning the prize. However, I would spend $10 to enter a tournament anyway as long as the user interface in the game is not hard to figure out.

I think $10 is about as much as I would pay since my skill level makes it unlikely I'll win. But as long as there are many matches with some kind of tournament stats I can get afterward, I wouldn't mind spending $10 of MC (2,500 MC) to support a tournament that has prize money.

I think PGI should create camos for people who enter your tournament. If you pay the entry fee, then you get access to a camo showing your support. I imagine a new camo isn't very hard for them to produce, so they could make one every time you have one.

This goes along with my idea that "collectables" in the game should be fun. The tournament camos should be another thing that players want to collect.

I am not looking for an ROI (return on investment). I don't need a lot of players but the more the merrier. This would be a more unit orientated even. The 4k is just to attract units or social groups to get together, add people to the game, and most importantly help a charity! I want this game to succeed so my unit and I would like to make this happen. We are fans of mechwarrior as well doing something for our community.

The Money I am putting up is not important but getting people to donate is. This is just my way of giving back. After wounded warrior it would be something like the Red Cross or doctors without boarders. I just need a start and some support. There is nothing for anyone to lose but everything to gain.

I support this keeps us from having to bring about things like this.
We were actually planning in the future charity drives for child cancer patients.
Get the bosses to cough up 3 dollars a hour we play and then stick them with 60 hours :)

I am not looking for an ROI (return on investment).

I do a lot of charitable work in my community, and I always try to be mindful of ROI. I only have so much time for charity, and can only donate so much of my services (I produce small concerts) so I try to choose events that will raise a worthwhile amount of money for their cause.

So if I were in your shoes, I would try to think of the best way to maximize the charity's gain from your 4K investment. What is the best way to get players to enter the tournament, or donate money?

For me, the collectable camo is a sure yes. I will not spend one second thinking about whether or not I want to enter if it costs $10 and I get a limited-edition camo that is going to be on my MWO account forever. It could be cockpit items or something else, but camo is something other players can see, so that's why I suggest it.

The "sponsor a friend" is another way to increase ROI. Another would be to have multiple entry fees. Some players might only be willing to pay $1, so maybe they don't get a camo but they can still enter the tournament. Others might be happy to pay $10 if they receive that camo.

Just my $0.02. I always try to make the money and time I contribute to charities net the most return for the charities themselves. Last year the events I produced, excluding a large one where I only played a small part, raised about $30k. My donation was a few days of my time and know-how, some local music connections, the use of equipment I own, and some labor I paid for.

Jeff - besides the money raised I will be donating more money then I will raise. Not every team can afford 10$ or 100$. This is early in planning stages and still need authorization. I am mindful of people's time so I am trying to make it worth their time. If you are going to play why not make the time benefit a cause.

The support a friend is an option but as this is an alpha test I want it simple. You donate a set amount yet to be determined and you have a chance at the money - worst case scenario you lose but get a tax right off and a feeling that you helped.

If approved the money will be put into an escrow account to be monitored by a third party. There would be a division for lone wolfs and a division for the teams. 1k for the solo guys to win and 3k for the teams.

I just want to make drops matter instead of just dropping to drop. It's. great game with endless possibilities. The donations would go through that groups website so you are not sending money to some un verified person like me. You would just send me a copy of the donation confirmation.

I am also thinking if you set up a recurring donation to that organization you will become eligible for a 1k bonus. Just something I am working on. I want this transparent and fun. Any ideas are welcome but I can't do this without PGI or IGP. So first things first - I need support!!!!

Is this going to be a U.S only event? Or an international event, if so wounded warriors is a bad idea unless you are planning to support iraki or afghan veterans as well... I don't want to offend anybody but helping children around the world would be better...

No offense but I know wounded warriors and they are reputable. Yes they are American only but if you a veterans support group in your country I am more than happy to accept that as well. I am starting small to make sure it's manageable. If I get the support I need and PGI and IGP are supportive then after the first season I would go to more international organizations. Not to sound rude but its my personal money going up and I just wanted to pick the first one.

After this I will look at other organizations - get their permission, and then have another season. For now I need to look in the states for legal reasons. I am also a Canadian citizen and want to support organizations there as well. I am not forgetting my Euro friends either. I will find more international charities if this works.

Great Idea, but i would suggest to do some Painting at the Mech, (Decal?), or some Cockpittitem instead a Camo, or only some Price MC for the Winner only.

If everyone, who contribute get this, its a Win Win Situation for all. PGI gets some nice PR, The Player some nice Decal and You, some nice Karma. :)

Great ideas about the decals or paint - if I get the support PGI could make it happen.
