So little has been discussed about the Meta game , yes we all know there will be battles over some worlds, and Mercs. will be able to control some worlds , and Factions will control others , and the Devs will control everything; in an effort to keep the History of the Battletech universe intact.

But......................?
What do we see? the players? what do you think?
I think we need some way for Merc units , Faction players who want a little more in depth / coordinated play;
a way in game to control where we battle who we battle and those we fight alongside.
with out my going on and on about my ideas lets hear from you guys.
so go for it, maybe if some one mentions french fries we may get an answer.

EVE is about the only MMO in recent times that I can think of that has been successful without allowing "avatars" to gather together and socialize between missions.

I don't think that it's necessary, at least not right at the start. But socializing is a major part of Battletech lore so I would be surprised if it doesn't get added in the future.

I guess the Engine they are using would make creating Avatars easier since it is a Shooter Engine. Though i personally don't know how the package looks like which got licensed for this game.

FRENCH FRIES :(

But really......I'm looking forward to what the Dev's have in store for us.

Maybe a dropship lands on a planet you control and out comes a battalion of Clanners.

Instant battle for control of the planet, or ???

Who knows what evil lurks in Pauls' little brain , down the time line this could get very intense :P

I'm glad you brought up eve. Afaik eve has had the most successful meta game out of any mmo. But I don't think wmo plans to compete for the same kind of meta game. In eve players vie for control of 'lawless' space that can have very rich material gains. It is a game where most of the ships you fly and bullets you shoot are built by somebody else playing the game. Everything is interconnected in that game. I've heard no mention of them planning to do something like that here. But it would be pretty cool. Maybe capturing different world gives factions/corps access to contracts with arms manufacturers who supply them with equipment. It'll be interesting to watch.

More from the PC gamer interview

Brian Ekman:

ll answer the second half of that first, because I think it’s probably more important. Yes, absolutely. They’ll be able to band together in the format of a lance, which is four, and they’ll be able to band together as a mercenary corporation for hire. And that’s not unlike a guild. And we have a whole editor and mercenary HQ for players to explore that allows them to customize the look and feel of their corporation, their membership, the structure of how they enter battle, the lances, their names, ranks, all kinds of things.
We really wanted to put as much control into the community’s hands as we could. They can create their own legends.

a whole Editor !!!!

mercenary HQ!!!!!!!!!
