I just tried playing this game with a proper joystick and mouse setup, and it turns out that a lot of the controls, although assignable to joystick buttons in the options menu, don't actually work in game. So I went and tested all of the controls and made a list. You're welcome!
Methodology: For each of these controls, I assigned a joystick button (not axis) in the options and tested their functioning in the testing grounds, unless otherwise noted. To double-check, I also tried the keyboard control for the function, which usually worked, unless otherwise noted.
The joystick I used for testing was a Saitek Cyborg X.
The controls that worked fine when assigned to joystick buttons are marked below with: -

If I may ask for anything, I'd ask that you take into account the fact that the driver interface for joysticks is used for all sorts of input devices, and what works for run-of-the-mill joysticks or gamepads might not work for less traditional input devices. The invested simulation freaks playing this game will love you long time if you make joystick/device support work properly! <3
