Buy her the Heavy Metal if it comes out tomorrow: Assault mechs are more heavily armored, can't move quickly enough to get into too much trouble very often, and can handle a beating if it does get in a bad spot. Plus, ITS PINK!

Good for her for hanging in there, but seriously let's not nerf the game. Too much of that in other games. It's time to learn perseverence and in the process gain skills.

I have grown to dislike Tourmaline too, I dont mind playing it, not really anyway....
My problem is that I have 98 fights there and the closest to that one is Alpine at 62... all the rest are low 50s and high 40s...
Gathering info is all well and good, but the map gets boring fast, run to theta, insert mass destruction here, some fricken ecm carrier sneaks off and caps... OR, some group of guys runs the edge to avoid detection and when the other team is at theta wondering where the brawl is, "Your base is under attack" "Your base is 25% captured"
Even my speedtweaked TDK at 139kph haas a hard time getting back to base in time, let alone defending it...
Now that my rant is done, I started playing and was kinda pissed that there was no training area, all you get is a Trial by Fire, not too terribly long after that, lrmcapades 2013 took place, try figuring out which mech you like when Lrms are destroying any and every mech in a matter of the blink of your eye... I persevered... I still think there should be a training area, a tutorial, if you will... But it can be done.
The only piece of advice I would give to you and your wife is this: If you have problems with something, especially anything branded "OP," such as the RVN-3L builds with the ecm & ssrms, buy one. Drive that $%^&(, learn how to use it, then you will know how to begin defeating it
