I think the current hero mech pricing of 75 x tonnage needs some work

This scale places too much emphasis on tonnage. and makes it seem as though heavier mechs are worth more. when in reality mechs of all sizes are viable. whole purpose of the role warfare design pillar was to have all mechs valuable.

It would be nice if the pricing scale were set instead by
2200MC + 30 x (tonnage) = heromech MC Price.

Death's Knell
old price: $10
New Price: $16

Pretty Baby
old price: $33
New Price: $25

The prices are now a bit closer. to reflect that both mechs are effective in battle.
The 2200 MC can be considered the price for the hero mech bonuses. Which is constant regardless of mech tonnage.

The permech basis pricing is good too. though if they didn't take the time to come up with a better price scale than 1:75, i doubt they would take the time to find out which mechs are good in the meta and should cost more. they would need to follow the meta as it changes, and adjust hero mechs prices as power levels fall and rise.

I honestly believe that PGI is still testing out which prices will net the most profits. We do see sales from time to time and those who pay full price gets it early. I am honesty fine with the prices we have right now because I don't buy hero mechs at "full price". Also after I got burned by Jagermechs, I am never buying a new released mech in till 2 weeks in to see if they are worth buying.

true. though even at discounted price. the diifference between a light mech and a heavy mech's price is too big.

considering how powerful a light mech can be. and that the devs want mechs of all tonnage to be useful.

Seems legit.

I own Flame, Fang, X-5, and I plan to purchase all the other hero mechs eventually.

What's really surprising is they don't just make 3 heroes of EVERY VARIANT. I would buy three hero CDAs instead of one and two regular CDAs just because they elite more quickly. I got premium time, sure; but I'd take advantage of the hero bonus as well.

I do not know the "lore" behind MechWarrior. I assume the Hero mechs are named after real pilots or mechs from the lore. Who cares? PGI wants to make money, I would buy more hero mechs, I'm sure others would as well.

Heck, just duplicate the AS7-D-DC, put on a cool camo, and call it AS7-HERO. People will probably buy it just to get CB faster. Same with Stalkers. They are good CB earners and would be even better if they had hero variants.

The thing about Hero lights is that they aren't worth buying. The 30% c-bill boost only works if you can output good damage and kills to get high "base" c-bill wins. I mean realistically what is an average players odds of a Death Knell making more than 150k C-Bills per match. Not very high because it doesn't output that much damage per match.

The Cataphract Hero mech on the other hand has a high chance of making 150k C-Bill per match because it can sport 3 x UAC5 and an average player can probably do over 400 damage per match.

I do fairly well in a light mech. topping the charts most of the time.
and conversely, i noticed that assault mechs don't get top most of the time. Usually its a heavy mech.
so why should an hero assault mech cost that much more than an hero heavy mech.

of course in the end it is by a per mech basis. how effective the hero mech is.

though chew on this: if they released a light hero mech with 3 missile hard points and an ECM. it would still cost only $12.

anyway my point is the current pricing scheme shallow and does not take into account the effectiveness/value of the product being sold.

another way is to price mechs individually. For example, by popularity, or by viability.

For example, the Flame is better and more viable than the Fang and also bought more. So the flame would have its prices adjusted accordingly.

though since the devs are not players. and the person doing pricing probably know even less about the game. they wouldnt be able to do this very well. and we also have to take into consideration, that the metagame changes all the time. and therefore prices need to be adjusted all the time.

Since they were lazy enough to put in a 1:75 pricing, i doubt they would go through all that efffort.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but why is there so much discussion of how PGI arrives at the MC cost of things, but not at the CB price of non-hero mechs and armaments/engines/etc.? An AWS-PB costs a lot more CB than a CDA-X5 but players do not place real value on CB and clearly do place real value on MC. At least, the vocal forum players must.

Does this indicate that players are not satisfied with the value they get from MC items?

All the forum QQing I read looks like it comes from people who are just too cheap to spend money on the game (with the exception of founders.) The problem with that is it's easy for PGI to dismiss that QQing as children or cash-strapped people who are not their target audience.

If you don't think they are providing enough value for your money, and you want them to listen, then you have got to tell the QQers to **** and make the discussion about value, not about "costs too much" or "omg P2W."

Fang is worse than Flame simply because the ballastic weapon choices in the game are not that good. That's the kind of feedback they need to hear.

All hero mechs should cost exactly the same... since according to role warfare... all mechs are equal.

I actually thought this exact thing yesterday. Although I don't think this would happen, I still feel that large hero mechs are vastly overpriced- a hero assault like Heavy Metal isn't far off the price of Skyrim on Steam, so I really can't justify the purchase of one (despite wanting it a lot). I guess the exchange rate isn't doing me any favours either, but $30 is quite a lot in South African Rands.

thats true though they sitll have to take into consideration that a light mech is faster to grind than a heavier mech. and charge higher prices for the convenience of saving time on a heavier mech.

but the price for that convenience is too steep right now. and doesn't reflect the shared bonuses of all hero mechs. 30%

PGI is making money at the current pricing level and will keep prices where they are until the sales begin to slip noticibly and then they'll run a sale and more people will buy the item. New players will join, see the shiny thing and then perhaps buy the item at full price again or wait until it goes on sale again. So, from a business standpoint I don't see any reason for PGI to drop prices. From a personal I don't have much money I can spare standpoint I'd love to have lower prices.

thats true. but maybe they can make more money. and not trample all over the design pillar.
