Is there anyone who can direct me to a thread regarding how closely the gameplay will resemble World of Tanks? Or any other references to game play. There have been several times when I have seen the game compared to World of Tanks and I am really worried about that. I have been playing World of Tanks a lot lately and one thing it is lacking is Teamwork! Its extremely hard to get a good team when you are randomly placed with 14 other people from all over the world. I really am hoping that this is not the forum of play that we are looking at with Mechwarrior online.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Chili

This is problem that all multiplayer games face , you cant solve it by game mechanics / gameplay - it can be solved only in one way - play with your friends ;)

Basically this. If you don't control who you play with, you'll never know if you're going to get a team that does nothing together and goes off on their own all the time. There's nothing you can do about it.

There should be less bad players since if we show them the controls, they'll pass out and after they wake up, they'll think twica about disrupting our gameplay. ;)

Bad players were, are and always will be. We can at least have smaller amount of them. :D

We don't really know what the matchmaking system will look like.

There has been talk of how lone wolf players will fill the gaps in house and merc units.

Which for me at least suggests that we will be grouped first by merc affiliation ... then by house affiliation or house contract ... and then the solo players will be added in.

Thats said ... its just a guess.

The bias does seem to be towards groups rather than solo players ... where as the bias is towards solo in WoT

We will have to wait and see.

That's not entirely true. As long as their are effective tools for communication, like the Battlegrid, and rewards to encourage working together, like xp bonuses, I think you'll find that even in a PUG game you get groups working together.

Well I sure hope so. Because I find that in WOT only about 3% of the time do you get a good team that works together. Lets hope for the best I guess. Can't wait to give it a try.

No matter what game you play, you will not be able to avoid certain 'types' of players that do not work/play well with others. One of the bigger differences between WoT and MWO is the role warfare system... in WoT at higher levels you have dedicated scouts because they are driving small, fast, light tanks in matchs with tanks they have a hard time hurting. They are not really scouts by choice, but because they are forced into the role due to match maker. While in MWO, since there are no tiers and weapons do equal damage to a 20 ton mech or a 100 ton mech, you can choose your role on the battlefield. It might not be the best choice, but you could play a light mech with the Command, Offensive, Defensive, or Scout modes.
