I like the concept behind the change, but I dislike that this indirectly buffs ECM.

How do you figure?

You can not see mechs on Alpine with your Mark 1 eyeball? It is that moving black dot on white that is shooting at you.

Took the words right out of my mouth

I wanted to find a military video instead, but this is too good to pass up as to what FLIR is.

Seriously, your Mark 1 eyeball won't last very long if you spend hours focusing dots couple pixels in size. If you're sniping like that you should stop asap. Since it's not that easy to buy a replacement with C-Bills IRL ffs. I'd rather brawl with big bad robots half my screen than waste my eyesight on this crap.

Just give snipers tunnel vision without wide field of view then. Like in real life! That would be a fair nurf.

It's supposed to be more realistic...apparently modern thermal vision is like this.

I like it. Everything past a certain range is just black, but it does make mechs more noticeable. It even flares up hot spots to boot.

It is, modern, and battletech thermals even, don't have infinite range on them, it was horribly unrealistic.

Even thermal imaging systems decades old would have no problem displaying stuff pretty accurately even at several kilometres distance. Way better than the grey blobs we are getting now with ridiculous 600m range (and an instant plop to black).

Well. then all I have to say is that it balances it, people got FAR to used to having thermal vision for what it wasn't intended to be, a see all tool at any range, hell on some maps you can even see mechs THROUGH buildings. This was realy needed to knock it back to its intended role, a mid range tool to let you see through smoke/blizzards/prolly fog to come/sandstorms. And now NV can be usefull on RCN (havnt had to opportunity to try it yet though, thank god.)

Everyone claiming horrible unrealism, go read http://en.wikipedia....red_thermometer at least. Decades old tech.

There will be further adjustments coming to Thermal vision, it is closer to what is intended but not final.

why bother rolling it out then? you guys keep doing this with each feature, creating a 1.0 and then promising a 2.0 which is just a waste of resources, when there is many things that needing "Fixing" rather than updating :

various Hud Bugs
missile balance/fix
CTD
various map bugs
ballistic rewind
missile rewind
flickering terrain
base capture bug
all weapon ranges need adjusting
ECM - still no post we've been promised then re-promised
Tag needs a super simple fix to make it toggle - just give it a 10s ontime before needing to be turned on again

there's more but i'm not remembering them

whether separate teams or not, fixs need priority right now before new content or updated old content.
