I completely disagree with people saying they only did this patch for a money grab (Heavy Metal) and did not implement any improvements - the changes to heat vision (and, to an extent, night vision) are very welcome.
And the Heavy Metal release prior to standard Highlanders is a good move by the devs as it motivates people to spend MC. WHICH IS A GOOD THING, as making profit is the core principle to keep a game alive.

BUT...

This many bugs makes the game unplayable for many players (including me) and asks for a quick response by the devs - both a roll-back/hot-fix and an official announcement is pretty much a must have.

Yesterday, I have played about 15 games and there was not a single one where there was no bug encountered by at least one of the players. Myself, I had the messed up graphics, CTD and no end game results bugs, others had the missing hud, broken IFF, late drops and some others...
Today, I played a single game and CTD'ed after about 5 minutes.

I am taking a break from the game for at least a couple of days and am hoping for a quick fix to all the above issues... if no action is taken by the devs by then, I will give this game another chance in 2 weeks after the next patch is released.

Edit: Forgot to say that my ping got higher by about 10-20 pts. on every map compared to pre-patch performance. Still not unplayable, but far from optimal.

Well, this patch ruined the game for me, my FPS was never great, but now they are so low that the game is unplayable..

What i find funny is that i got less FPS when watching my dead mech with nothing else around.. than watching the mechs in full action... strange... lol..

I'm completely flabbergasted at the level of complaining over:
  • Releasing the hero Highlander before the standard versions
  • Releasing a pink hero mech
...On the latter I guess there are a lot of people who aren't aware it's canon, and no surprise as Battletech players probably do make up a (vocal) minority of MWO players.

The former is a brilliant move by PGI (Or IGP? Dunno). Capitalise on the pent up demand for the Highlander. Great business move. But oh the rage and sense of entitlement. "[How dare they release the hero mech before the standard mechs! How am I supposed to get the mech I want?!?!]". I dunno. You could:

1) Buy the hero mech
2) Wait

I'd imagining a large portion of those raging over the hero mech being released first have spent zero-to-low real-world dollars on this game. I think a lot of people take the free in F2P to mean it shouldn't cost anyone anything to play.

As for the bugs...That's another story. Words just fail there. Fail patch is fail.

I noticed that my FPS had dropped about 10%, then dutifully upgraded my NVIDIA drivers, only to have the FPS drop by a further 50%. I then used the Windows "Roll Back Driver" feature and the FPS recovered to the 90% level, relative to the last patch.

The new driver (now ~20 FPS) was 9.18.13.1422 (14/03/2013) and the old driver (now ~45 FPS) is 9.18.13.623 (30/08/2012). I'm using a GT 550M. I run on mostly low with some things on medium.

I am paying money for this game.

$30 for an Assault Mech with a good layout with JJ (unseen until now) before you can get it otherwise is P2W.
As are their usables. Their blatant lies that 2 modules are better together than one module if you can have 2 modules at all on a Stalker don't stick. They make them just look even worse. And don't even mention the superior layout of the hero mechs...
PGI and IGP have no idea how to monetize their customers they have. PGI has not the slightest idea how to have player retention.

Not to mention that the balancing and their bad concept from play modi (YAY WE STAND ON POINTS TO CAPTURE THEM) to mech layout (I WILL JUST BOAT 2 AC20 IN MY 2 MG SLOTS) to hilarious matchmaking (SOMEBODY DISCONNECTS IN THE LOBBY? ILL START ANYWAY!!!) to tackling the problems of converting a TT with random hitzones with each weaponhit to a game you can aim in (weapon groups, boating the same weapons, no COF, no heat effects on accuracy, convergence getting taking out while the skill is still in)...

The only thing I hope for is that MW:O dies fast and clean.
Then we have MW:LL back.
May the King die quickly so the King can live a long life!

And you're getting something in return. If you're not happy with what you're getting you have the option of not paying/playing.

Oh please. The HMH is P2W? Even if I agreed with that (Which I don't) let's consider the possibility that P2W has a scale and that on that scale, the HMH is a looooooooong way from gold ammo. Calling it a "good layout" is subjective. The mech does not have any great advantage over many existing mechs. And other Highlanders will be here in two weeks or something. Patience. From my anecdotal measurements when I've been able to play (Thanks black screen), games where one side has a HMH (Or several) are not winning more often that the side without.

[...Rant snipped...]

K. Thnx bai. I for one wouldn't miss your attitude.

Maybe they are storing them up for an FPS giveaway weekend some time. ;-)

MW:LL was free and better. So what exactly do I get in return? Oh right! They suppress the license of MW:LL... good bargain!

MW:O basically kills the franchise of MW. They did bleed out the huge fanbase with their promises and did get $5Million for that. Now they break one promise after another and just don't deliver anything.
No 1st. Not repeating the problems of earlier MWs. Having complex missions. RvR...

Even if somebody would try to make a really good MW after PGI is finished with its cashgrab the crowdfunding for the next title will be all but impossible. Everything they can say has been said by PGI already and nobody will believe the new one to really do it that way this time.

HMH is the only assault mech up to date with JJ. The one who pays money gets a mech that can JJ with 20 tons more of weight than anybody else. How is that not P2W?
Not like gold bullets would be that much better than the stock ones, heh?

The problem of you forum white knights is that you don't get the problem a F2P has. If you alienate a lot of guys they will leave. MW:O already has not enough people playing it for matches to be found quickly and end up full.
And it even drafts new players in trial mechs into high ELO matches.
Not to mention it doesn't consider things like drop weight or ECM yet.
It would be nearly impossible to find full matches if all of that would be considered like it should.

Calling me a white knight is rich. I've laid in to PGI as warranted as much as the next person. I just don't do it in a whiny, entitled manner full of speculation.

Not much to really say; I can't play the game in it's current state. Rubberbanding, major HUD issues, the entire match freezing for 30 seconds before resuming, getting stuck on stuff.

I'm not really mad; just really dissapointed; I think they were cruising along pretty well up until the last two patches. Seems the longer patch cycles have been worse for them. I just want them to succeed so I can run around in my mech for a while.

I will return on the next patch tuesday, and hopefully be delighted; but for the time being they have lost a player.

While it seems the random CTDs have stopped for me, the kaleidoscope persists and the frequency is about 1x / 5 games. No matter what drivers I use for my graphics adapter.

There are many other annoying bugs (mostly introduced with the release of the latest patch), but the messed up graphics make the game completely unplayable in about 20% of drops and that is an amount I am not willing to accept. I really do hope the upcomming hot-fixes as well as the next scheduled patch will make at least the most severe issues disappear and allow me to enjoy the game again...
