Spider - the defacto forward observer - is still limited to have a single use consumable like the rest of the mech herd. To make this sucker actually have a role in life... let it carry multiple mods. Or, from a mechanics standpoint, allow players to put their mods on "standby" (which consumes them) and allows the instant execution of the fire order by a forward observer. Cooldowns still take effect, but it effectively lets the spider consume the teams shot calling (as it would in the real world).

I actually kill quite a few folks with the spider - just want it to be a recon mech.

Honestly, they need to do something to buff the spider. It already has an extremely light payload and requires a fairly experienced and situationally aware pilot/gunner to extract usefulness out of it.
It should have like five module slots or something, given PGIs recent penchants for adding consumables.
