River City Nightmare

Just remove this map. I know you guys worked hard on the new vision modes but honestly you just get destroyed by a group if they have ECM on their team.

The new vision modes limit how far you can see and unless you have sensors picking up targets is damn near impossible. Another thing to make ECM even more powerful is all this game needed.

I'm sure i'll get used to it eventually, and if we could actually pick maps it would be fine but i'm just annoyed that after months and months of ECM abuse it gets MORE effective and not less.

Yep. Now that I think of it, thermal was the only thing to detect ECM mechs unless they were right on top of you. Oh well. Im seriously not liking this patch (not just because of this), I think Ill call it a week for now.

I've said multiple times since seeing the patch notes, instead of wasting time and dev power on a new thermal vision (to fix the overpowered one) and a new night vision, both of which will only be used on River City Night, that they should have just removed River City Night and disabled Night Vision and Thermal Vision.

Try "thermal" for spotting targets ...

Basically they nerfed Thermal so it's harder to naviagate in, but buffed night vision, so it's easier to navigate then either old thermal or old night.

It means that your basically going to need to switch vision modes more often. I would like to see 1 key that cycles the 3 modes ... kind of like how a "Predator" works :-). Start in normal, first press goes to thermal, second press goes to night, third press goes back to normal.

I'm well pleased with the new vision modes. ECM will remain broken until they finally push through whatever fix they have in mind (and will still be broken one way or another unless they use my electronic warfare revisions or something close to them). Since that's a little ways off, I have no problem with them going ahead and fixing the alternate vision modes. They both look good and do their jobs well.

Lulz.
I would actually prefer if they fixed it, but I'm sick to death from hearing about it EVERY day.

And before anyone says "If they fixed it, we'd shut up about it"
No you wont
No, you wont

It won't be enough, or it'll be too much, or just because it will still exist

It's going to go on, and on, and on, and on... I'm putting my foot down now and getting all Sam Kinneson in EVERY thread that has ECM in the title.

I'm on a mission to civilize.

It's more than just 200m but when your getting hammered and your screen goes dark from LRMS it's not much more.

Doesn't make much difference to how I play. Only problem now is that the guys who use custom CFG files are at an even more serious advantage....

...no other way to explain how a group of 3 guys can accurately shoot from across the map at night when none of the stock vision modes can see that far.

Normal vision works wonders. You should try it sometime.

Fun fact: this game has colors other than grey and blue.

Some people can see in River city night without using one of the vision modes.

I am not one of those people, it is simply way too dark for me. Not like dark that I can't pick out targets at 800+ ranges, but Dark that I can't even navigate.

But it is really difficult to pick up targets at 500+ meters in nightvision / thermal now and it is really worse when explosions darken your screen. A couple times on RCN its gotten really bad where I can't see where I am going let alone who's shooting at me and the ECM turns this into a turkey shoot and "THAT" is frustrating as hell considering 1.5 tons still wrecks my world.

As Tickd said, you can see a LONG way on River City Night in NORMAL vision mode, try turning up the details or getting a better vidcard/monitor if you can't.

I was on that map earlier tonight and a buddy on TS died and was spectating from my cockpit and he kept asking me how I could see anything since I stayed in normal vision mode, 'is your contrast all the way up or down?'..no, it's set at the default, 'is your brightness cranked?', no it's at default too, 'did you use out of game settings for them?', no..'then how the hell can you SEE anything, it's just black and more black to me!'....guess many people see just black on that map, don't know what else to tell them but..crank the graphics, get a better vidcard/monitor...

I can see from one base to the other with the new night vision. Quit complaining.
