Basically you miss out on salvage, resource rewards according to testing done by Cy and my little group. Unknown about capture and capture assists, but you do apparently earn kills, kill assists (so long as they happen before you leave), damage dealt, and team kill deductions even if you leave early.

If I carry my team through most of a match, then die near the end (this happens a good bit)

I want to be able to DC, while my team cleans up

even when I am in a 4 man

so I can get my mech customization OUT OF THE WAY before the next match starts with my group

now to get the hefty win reward

I am forced to spectate and waste time

time is precious to me, so I will no longer give PGI what is precious to them, my money.

Jettisoning as this has derailed quite a bit into an argument over a fictional 'ninja patch' that never actually occurred.
Once again, to re-iterate, this change occured in Closed Beta and was announced in advance to the community here in October 2012: http://mwomercs.com/.../66088-farming/ This is not a new change.

Wow this is just confusing now

there is no way it has always been this way?

have I been cheating myself of millions of cbills for months?

is my life a lie?

the whole

NOTE: IF YOU ARE DEAD part

seems to state the opposite of what this thread is implying

Before you depart, maybe you could provide some clarification in response to my query on the last page?

Quote

So I feel like there's some misunderstanding going on here...

If you disconnect while still alive - you miss out on rewards for anything that happens after you disconnect.'

If you disconnect after dying - you get full rewards.

So this discourages people from immediately disconnecting at the start of a match to farm.

This would actually make sense.

But...am I hearing you get no rewards for what happens after you disconnect even if you only disconnect after fighting and dying? So if I die five minutes into a match, I get nothing for anything that happens in the match after? No assist rewards when my teammates kill 'mechs I damaged? No payout for the match win/loss etc.?

Because that would be jacked up.

The patch notes you linked above refer to disconnecting WHILE STILL ALIVE. The confusion here is over what the effect of disconnecting after your 'mech is destroyed is supposed to be.

It has not been communicated, Niko. You might have a second look at that thread. I'll highlight the important thing for you:

Quote

Quitting/Disconnecting Early - While Still Alive
  • You will only receive rewards up to the point of disconnection.
There is nothing telling the player that this also applies after death. It is just the opposite, the "if you are dead" part seems to indicate that you will receive all rewards if you disconnect after dying. This is very poorly verbalized.

And jettisoning such an obviously important discussion... well, that kinda speaks for itself.

So far the poll in metagame shows 9-0 (nobody knew) so yes some official clarification and an announcement are required for this issue regards the Bryan Eckman statement:

NOTE: If you are dead, you will receive earned rewards, plus match rewards.

Should it actually read:

NOTE: If you are dead, you will receive earned rewards, plus match rewards. (If you remain connected til game ends)

It apparently has been the way we all knew and that's the way we all were told. Niko said it wrong earlier, and we got all worked up. It was around 3 AM my time. (...why are the devs working so late just to get back so early? Man I want their jobs!)

Edited my post on Page 2 to clarify my response:
Disconnecting before being destroyed should result in no rewards beyond those earned at the point of disconnection.
Mechs destroyed after disconnection should not affect the above.
Disconnecting after being destroyed should result in match rewards being earned.

Then just say that in the first place and this whole thing didn't have to happen!

Niko can you therefore confirm that your statement:

You will only receive rewards obtained before you disconnected. To earn match rewards, you must observe the match.

is false?

OK. Rather than a clarification, this is basically the opposite of what you said before that understandably got everybody up in arms. Nevertheless, I'm pleased to hear it.

Yup, seems we all got worked up for nothing. All that thread necroing in the past 24h must've gotten to Niko. :(
Well, seems everything's all right, as long as Niko's statement this time is correct.

This appears to be false information. I earned 69647 c-bills and 300 xp for powering down and dying on the enemy cap.

Niko Snow Please have someone read over your posts before you hit submit. You answered a simple question incorrectly and really should have just linked to the current policy. You've made a huge issue out of nothing.

Thanks

Niko for the love of all that is holy please let the devs speak on issues of game clarity in the future. Your marketing, PR speak style just makes everything about as clear as mud and as you can see in this case was wholly avoidable

I love how posts/threads of importance disappear... especially when it discusses serious topics like "patch note policies" which are mediocre at best.

And you wonder why people say you are your own worst PR...

I still don't really know what to make of the changes (or whatever changes were actually made).

For final 'clarification' can you please answer the following question AS SIMPLY AS POSSIBLE

What difference in earnings (if any) is there if mech destroyed and I remain observing until game ends?

VS

If mech destroyed and disconnect before the game ends?

Thontor - looking carefully at the wording I'm inclined to agree with you, players that disconnect after death before game ends WILL lose out on some Cbill rewards.

The official word has been extremely misleading in this regard on this thread and a straight answer has not been given

I believe the changed the system so that you only get Assist rewards if you stick around in the match (either alive or observing) until the target is dead. However, if you die and then disconnect, you will still receive your Kill rewards and your win/loss bonuses, and any assists from enemy Mechs you scratched that wound up dying before you did.

The system is designed to prevent people from accumulating a hoard of Assist Bonuses by scratching the whole enemy team and disconnecting from the match before any of those enemies die. If you scratch them all and spectate, then you'll get your assists. If you kill 2 enemies and die, then disconnect right away, you'll still get 2 kill rewards because you killed them. If you kill 2 enemies, scratch 2 others but leave them alive, then you die and disconnect right away... then you'll get 2 kills but no assists (whether or not those targets get killed by your team later in the match). if you kill 2 and scratch 2, then die and spectate... you'll get your 2 kills and 2 assissts.

Is this reflective of what people are actually seeing in-game?
