I was just reading the list of novels for Battletech on this page: http://en.wikipedia....ttleTech_novels

There are 101 books listed on that site and I was wondering if anyone had an idea on which books were essential to read for filling in the timeline and the chronological order to read them in?

Thanks.

For the timeline that the game will take place in, I highly recommend the Blood of Kerensky trilogy by Michael A. Stackpole. Malicious Intent, also by Stackpole, is a great followup to that trilogy and segues from the Clan Invasion into the beginning of the FedCom Civil War.

Essential?!?!?!? Wow, I would say all of them, but that might not be in the offering for you, time restraints you know. But be warned, they are very addictive. You can find almost of of them online. Try going here to search for the books and novels.

Great site, with a pretty good search engine.

This thread is pretty good.. and as mentioned earlier.. The Blood of Kerensky books will set the stage (pretty much) for the timeline the game will start in.

I kid you not, one day I was at a Half Price book store and found a couple of these in the audio section.

Also their site needs work because apparently everything was written by Charette. Although that wouldn't be too bad :)

I would say ALL of them, but for the best bang for your buck: The Warrior trilogy and the Blood of Kerensky trilogy.

The Warrior trilogy is the fourth succession war which is a number of years before the timeline that MWO will be in but it sets the groundwork and is a good foundation. Next up would be the Blood of Kerensky series.

Just read them all especially if you have only played the video game.
