3 Large lasers 1 Gauss 1 SRM 6.

The ranged damage you can lay down with a Gauss + 3 LL is impressive (LLs being one of the most efficient laser weapons and gauss taking 1 heat.) And 3 LL shreds away lights that get to you.

... just gotta get these jump jets off for a bigger engine.

*Endo-steel + 300 normal egine + 16 total DHS + 2 tons gauss, 2 tons SRM + 2 SRM 4 + 3 LL + Gauss + armor stripped off legs - JJs (no JJs)* best mech. It lacks PPCs but I'll call it a kurita mech anyway.

Didn't meet my expectation of 3 PPC in an arm (or dual UAC5 on the other). No buy.

My Cataphract 1X and 3D can put almost as much damage from further range so I am not very impressed with Heavy Metal.

Aside from the JJs, AS7-RS is better sniping choice IMO.

That was my preliminary build as well, with an XL325. Though looked a bit hot. Didn't really see many other options, so think I will wait until this is on sale.

XL's are bad bad bad unless, for whatever reason, you are using it as a fire support.

This beast, however, can tank damage like no other and still dish out nice pinpoint and aoe damage.

That build is very strange.

Strange? Yes. Effective? Absolutely. Unless you are one of those many pilots who don't torso twist. If so, no amount of tips and tricks can help you.

Remove the SRM-6 and that's basically my favorite ctf-1x loadout. 3LL +1 gauss. Winning.

Is what I am using right now. I like the STD engine, but I miss the JJ. All in all I find it more survivable, but YMMV.

3 large lasers? Clip the left arm. That's a lot of firepower to put in one basket. Hell, shoot the left torso if you can. Then he loses all his missiles as well, and possibly his engine.

It's left arm even after trimming armor has 42 armor.

Suffice it to say that you're not just going to "clip" it.

I really hope one of the highlander chassis gets a higher engine rating. I NEED a 75kp/h Highlander with max jumpjets, even if I can only put med lasers on it.

I'm running 3x LL, 1x AC/10, 2x SSRM2. Feels kinda underwhelming, to be honest. But I just don't wanna lose the JumpJets... that's the whole reason why I bought the damn thing.

The arm on an assault has quite a bit of armor.
Any time someone shoots my arm I'm glad, because everyone else on his team's shooting my CT and I like having damage spread over my mech.

The main problem I see with the Highlander is that a cataphract can carry anything it will at 20 tons less. It definately needs some torso weapons other than missiles, Right no even a 65 ton Jager mech has better slots.
