I understand we don't have repair and rearm anymore and I understand why but... I believe we should still have down time for our mechs.

What I mean is, depending on how much damage your mech takes in a given match, 50% damaged, 25% damaged, 40% damaged and so on... That mech should be down and out to represent it being out of commission and waiting to be repaired.

Maybe do something like every 10% of damage you take, your mech can not be used for so many minutes. This would have 2 major effects. 1... You can't play a match and then jump right back into another match with the same mech. 2... It will force some people to play other mechs more often.

And no, you're not paying for the repairs, its just a representation of having to wait for repairs.

Ummm no. I do not want that shiny new 'Mech I just bought that I am trying to get the hang of and grind out the skill tree getting locked for x amount of time every time I make a mistake or just get outmatched. That will definitely be a great way to drive away newer players.

and I understand most wont want this, but maybe it can be an option for hard core matches then?

I think there was something like this when I first started. After a game it would be a little bit before I could use my mech again some times shorter some longer. But I think it got patched so now you can just spam games with one mech. Only issue I had with it was instead of saying In Game it should say Under Repair if its added back in.

Yeah, a new player who only owns one mech shouldn't have to go back to trial mechs while waiting for his mech to free up. Hell, I get annoyed when I have to wait for a mech to get out of game because it has all my modules on it.

How is not being able to play your mech for a few minutes 'hardcore'? Hardcore would be if you die your mech is gone and needs to be replaced. Or if you get headshot your 'pilot' dies and you have to unlock all the efficiencies again. Ya don't pussyfoot around and call it 'hardcore'.

For competitive play I can see it. Not everyone would be happy (myself included), but to simulate battle more accurately you could pull it off in CW or tourneys and get a pass more or less. It might be a more popular option outside of North America. I know in WoT the Russian and Euro servers have tank locking for clan wars where if you die in a match your tank is locked out of clan wars for 24 hours, but the outcry against it for the North American servers is so great it does not get implemented here.

I would take R&R over waiting.

And the reason for this is just to get people to drive different mechs into battle?
Fine once I master a mech I'll just buy 3 of that mech, same load out.

For CW meta? Perhaps.

For non-CW games? Do you play BF3 or CoD and go "Right. My engineer is on R&R for a week so I have to play my medic this round".
