So my first actual Mechwarrior game that I've ever played was Mechwarrior 4 Mercs, and besides MWO it remains the only one that I have played for now.

While playing MW4 I found this assault mech and instantly fell in love with the way it looked.

I mean how can you NOT like that thing? Personally I'm hoping beyond hope that they will implement this mech, and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same.

I do! I want one too. I knew the banshee would be the next assault mech to fill the 95 ton slot, but what I really wanted was the Cyclops.

You've cheated yourself. Play Mechwarrior 3 and/or MechCommander (and 2) if / when you can.

But yeah that's a neat looking mech.

I don't mind the Banshee but I soooo want the Clops

How'd I cheat myself? I'll play MW3 if I can, and I have MC2 on my computer because Microsoft is now distributing it for free. Just haven't had a chance to play it too much

Anyone know if this is an Unseen mech? I don't want to get my hopes up and then have them get crushed

It's free of legal issues. If they bring it in, I hope they avoid the MW4 "HAL9000" look and go for something more closely resembling the TRO art.

Interesting mech. The picture Sarna uses makes me think its a light, along with the name

While I can appreciate why people would like the TRO version, the Hal look of MW4 is one of my favorite aspects of the mech. I also really dislike the hood of the TRO

While I can sympathize, I also look at things from a gaming mechanics perspective.
That hood will protect your cockpit from LRMs and Artillery Instant Kill shots.
Or do you like being headshot by LRMs? I never did. One reason I don't run the Quickdraw too often.

I'd love to see the 'clops, but it'd have to have the hood.

Although wasn't the Cyclops another one of the supposed "command mechs"? I'd really like to see that sort of stuff implemented, so that the Command Module is more than a paper weight.

Love it, but only if it looked a little more like the original artwork:

It's a really cool command mech.

Then again, I'd rather see the Zeus, Hatchetman, and King Crab first.

Pretty sure the King Crab is a solid bet. I vaguely remember seeing a tweet that mentioned it.

Do want Cyclops, though.

It would be cool, however I feel like it wouldn't be a very strong mech until command console is fixed.

I've been longing for a Cyclops for a long, long time. It would be a great addition to the 90 ton group.

Well, it seems a lot like a matter of opinion. Personally, I find the visual aesthetic of Mechwarrior 4 vastly inferior to that of 3, the graphics (at least as far as MW4: Mercenaries are concerned) are a significant downgrade from Mechwarrior 3, and the control scheme is bizarrely a step backwards (Mechwarrior 3 let you use your mouse to aim, and Mechwarrior 4, for some reason, took a step backwards and removed that capability, instead implementing a less-intuitive version of Mechwarrior 2's aiming/torso-twist mechanics- just as an example).

Some people, though, really really loved Mechwarrior 4. I don't know why, given that Mechwarrior 3 was just sort of all around smoother, easier to operate, had not only equal-or-better graphical precision but in many cases an overall less jarring aesthetic, and was actually less demanding on the computer, but that doesn't mean they didn't enjoy it a whole lot.

Anyways, back on topic.... I've wanted to see the Cyclops for quite a while. I'm very pleased by some of the visual redesigns that PGI has done (though less so by others) and am very curious what take they would use on the good old CP.

I'd prefer that they use the hood- it gives the CP a unique appearance, with the cockpit appearing to be shaded. It's always kind of reminded me of the medieval knight look with a chain coif and a heavy cloth hood over it.

I like model Darkwolfe posted, but I would prefer something closer to canon as well. I wouldn't turn that model down if it was offered. My only concern is that cyclopean dome is a headshot magnet. MWO mechs all have the heads tucked down into the shoulders, this one would need as well.

The issue with doing this is that it would completely kill the whole theme of the Cyclops.

I don't mind the controls from MW4, and it's pretty intuitive to go from MW4 to MWO.. Somewhat. At least with the way I have my settings.

The hood just.. I don't know. I'm one of those people who came in late to the franchise so I mostly dislike a lot of the old TRO models and the Cyclops is one of the highest mechs on the list of avoid the TRO.

Maybe with PGI's reinvention of it I'd like the hood? But I definitely would want the torso to align more with MW4 than anything else.

Also I've seen things about the King Crab but who knows.

The issue with headshots is an easy one to fix, though. I mean, look at the Atlas: the "head" is just the left eye - you could easily do something similar with the Cyclops, making it a thin strip along that center "eye" that's the actual cockpit, rather than the whole thing.

You can't spell "MechWarrior" without one "i".
