I was thinking about the new player experience, that is getting into a mech or several mechs more quickly. I think a relatively simple answer would be to make a used mech variant. this would be an existing variant with a few modifiers which may include.

- Reduced torso twist (10-15%)
- Reduced speed (5-10%)
- Reduced internal structure (3-5%)
- Pre-tarnished paint

Basically something that would give you a good idea what the mech is like at a fraction of the cost (maybe 30% of new mech) but still encourage you to get a full version of the mech if you like it.
