I have a Cicada 3M. I want to run either an ultra A/C 5 or an lb 10X. With either I can still fit an 320xl engine. The A/C 5 can also support a pair of medium lasers with two tons of ammo. The 10x can only fit two smalls with the same ammo tonnage. Which one will probably work better in the long run. As a side note I like the 10x because I feel it works better against lights, which have traditionally been a problem for me.
An Assortment Of Balistics.

If you have to go with one of them, I'd choose the U-AC/5 and keep closer to your team.

uac5 is pointless. My jagermech came with two and they hardly fired. liked the range and damage potential, but they often jammed the first time I tried to shoot. Supposed to only jam when you try a "double fire" trick, but they just plain jam when they feel like it.

Yeah, never had that problem. They work fine for me.

They do jam, but I often take 175 rounds of UAC5 ammo and use it all up before the match ends. That means I can potentially deal 875 damage per round. UACs are great for a fast mech, since when they jam you can run and hide for 5 seconds.
And don't forget to take Medium lasers as a backup.

As soon as you click when they are in their reload cycle, their chance to jam triggers.
I love them. I have 4 in my barely useful Yager. The flip side to the jamming thing, is that sometimes, the don't jam. Sometimes, they let you unload a torrent of atlas shredding firepower. I love the randomness.
If you are in a brawl and they jam, you need to use other weapons and try to... not die. If you are in a decent support position and they jam, you just need to twiddle your thumbs for a bit.

My advice is to completely forget the ballistic slot. You won't have any true option with it even with smaller engines, stick to full energy solutions, such as 3 MPL ER PPC, 2LL + 2MLs (with smaller engines) or if you want to keep the 320 and can't get anything smaller try dual LL dual smlas, endo-ff-dhs, shave off armor from the arms as needed.
